Car doesn't do 120 in D3 with the current rev limit of 7100-7200. (If you removed the rev limiter, do let me know about it).

READ his signature, he has a CL-P. 120 on 3rd gear is not possible...he's either joking around or obviously mistaken.

Can't do 120 in a CL Type-S in 3rd gear either (It's about 113-117 depending on who's watching the speedo and telling the story.) [And, this again is predicated on 7100-7200 RPM limit]

my sig is wrong i have a type S and i'm not talkign about 3rd gear i'm talkign about the notch on the automatic shifter where it says D3 - 3 marks below reverse 2 below D5 1 below D4

NOT the tip tronic

D3 look inside your car next time your in it and set it to D3 its still automatic shift, not just 3rd gear get on the beltway listen to your engine dont just floor it

We know. But D3 is the same thing as "3" in sportshift as far as the rev limiter cares... and you won't be able to do 120.

look dont take these guys too seriously...just understand you have quite a concetration of enthusiasts here...we are well aware of what D3 is...is is the exact same as 3 in SS you cant change the dynamics of the gear itself regaurdless of how you get there and D3 does top out at 113 mph however reveing your car upto the limit at WOT and even the angle you look at the speedo there's a error rate of +/- 10% ...you may think your seeing 120 but you cars ECU is cutting fuel when it reach 7200 rpms and this will occur at approx 113

Personally, I get my best readings by spitting on my thumb, sticking it out the window, and seeing how long it takes for it to dry

So I'm NOT the only one who discovered this!

And if you guys want to activate the SportReverseGear (SRG™) mode, put the car in "Reverse" and then lick your nose with your tonuge. If you do it right, you can go like 165 mph in reverse!!! There's no limiter in the SRG™ mode!!!!!!!!

It's funny you guys say D3 is so great. 'Cause I pulled my worst 1/4 mile in D3 at 16.3 and 90.35 mph, with 2.20 60'
