cut springs

anyone ever cut their springs? My friend and I are arguing because i told him it wouldnt work on our cl's because of the weight and the spring size. He wants to cut his front springs about 1 to 2 coils because he said his front is too high and the rear sits lower stock. what do you guys think?

tell ur friend he is an idiot and instead of cutting them to get replacements. our springs are a progressive type and cutting them will make the car handle worse

I would get aftermarket springs and do it right the first time around. He is going to feel every bump there is on the road. I wouldn't ghetto rig my car.

HAHAHA i love ur answers.

Lol u know what u CAN do.

My relative has an Alfa Romero and he wanted to lower it but have the same ride.. SO

he took off the suspension cut off all the brackets and MADE his own brackets at the new (lower) height so it'd have the good ride and a lower stance.

there is ur 2nd option HAHAH

You do realize that anytime you change the height of a car, you should pretty much always change the shocks. The shocks are made to have a certain stroke length and when you change the height it changes the stroke. Thats why people who drop their car but don't change the shocks end up with a stiff bouncy ride.

And if he had the money for an Alfa Romeo (Unless an Alfa Romero is a knock off version) then why would he have not went to a custom shop to have the work done properly.

Heat them up with a torch.
No spending money,no dissasemble, fastest cheapest way but, getting all 4 to match will be next to impossible.

just buy a set.
eibach's will last forever.and have a very little sag rate.

and that is why they say you like

anyways i've seen people use a cut 2x4 as a spacer to try and make it level when they are/were heated up (and no i was not the one to do it, i was walking down main st going past a shop, and they had their door open so you could see them doing it)
