Custom shift boot and surrounding plate for short shifter.

Between the adjustable short shifter and my aluminum ball shift knob, my shift boot has officially been massacred and I'm not going to buy a brand new one from the dealer. So I came across this, and the measurements seem to be dead on. Gonna try it out and take pics later. Going to pout it in so that It can be taken off to adjust the shifter height without ruining the center console. Anybody try it yet?

Ebay Motors link to product.

I dont like how the manufacturers name is right on the front of the trim piece, but Id like to see how you mount this.

got it in, looked it over, quickly test fitted it by overlaying it onto the opening and came to the conclusion that I was not willing o hack up my console to get it to work.

The boot was WAAAYYY too big and long, for the OEM shifter much less a short shifter. Also would require me to drill into the plastic to get it to mount.

I'm going to have to get my tailor to modify the OEM boot to work with my short shifter. Gonna order a new factory frame and boot.

I was the one that fitted a boot for our cars from them. I have the same short shifter you do ron, and the boot works great. Use the collar pspec sends you, and put the boot onto the frame for the height you want. You can trim the excess leather or just leave it

Looks like you can have the shift boot height cut a certain lenghs too from that site. So if you have a short shifter, just have it cut to however low your shifter is

carpet has to be pulled for a roll cage though (at least it is best too)

also instead of CF door panels, i think you should go for CF doors instead , with pull strap windows (like on the origional GT40 [i think]), to really help shed some of that weight off

I have some spare/extra black momo boots if anyone wants one. I can sell for really cheap or maybe even give away for free. They have holes cut on the bottom section so that the tabs on the trim can go thru it.

Well, it's not hat easy, because the lower the shift boot neck is where it meets the shifter, the bigger the opening gets, like going down a cone shape.

Also, the main problem is the frame, so I am going to get a new OEM frame and just modify the boot with a small zipper stitched into the back of the boot that will allow me to open up the boot and access the short shifter if I ever decide to adjust it without the need to take out the whole frame off the console where it attaches.

I already returned the Shutt boot and frame.

Im interested in seeing how you do the zipper. I always thought it was pretty easy to just pop off the shifter surround though

let alone once you find a setting you like, it would proably stay there

also changing it on a regular basis could easily cause you to miss a shift (from not being in the position you thought it should be going into), and bend your valves like some people on this board

Yea ill take some pics. I remove my surround alot and its still in perfect shape. The only time i think I noticed a problem was if you have the boot loose and not stapled to that white plastic piece like it is from factory. I remove mine almost weekly and its been fine for years. I just left the stock boot stapled on to the plate and just removed the top clip/adapter part.

Here are pics of the momo boot

The top has a screw on type top so not sure how youd want to fit it, unless u have a screw in knob like a momo etc. I have 2 spare i could let go.

This is the shift boot from the integra type r from japan This is the shift boot i took the top ring from and customized to fit the stock boot. I might swap to this boot when i add my dc5 integra type r momo steering wheel which also has red stiching.

and finally this is how my setup is now

sorry for jacking ur thread ron
