Custom Front Bumper (R34)..

Everyone know's about the lack of good looking after market bumper's for the CL.. although most people are quite satisfied with the stock look of the front end, I was looking for something more to go along with the Evo side skirts + rear bumper that I really liked.

As I mentioned in another thread about custom front bumper's, I was having a shop here locally in Toronto work on a custom bumper made out of urethane resembling the R34 replica bumper's out in the market for other vehicles.. Just went by the shop today and this is what we have going so far:

Angle 1

Angle 2

Let me know what you guys think..

Yea.. your thinking Essarak's car when it was silver.. looks a lot like his front bumpers minus wide body kit..

wow that looks really nice, it can be a good upgrade for my scratched up front bumper.
I now have 2 questions in mind.
Will the stock roadlamp fit in the slots?
Is it possible to make this bumper without the side slot at the left and the right? (by the wheel)

There's no way the stock road lamp's would fit in there, the shape is completely different.

And I'm sure you can easily remove the side vents.. I actually kind of like the way the look, I still have a few days to decide whether to keep them or not.

I spent about $2000 for parts + labour for the Evo side skirts & rear put on and the custom front bumper.. That price also includes a full paint job for the whole car as well..

I guess its also worth mentioning I know the guy which is why I got such a cheap price.

What color will the car be? It will look good as long as the paint is tasteful and the wheels are 19s.

Colour is going to be NBP.. Using old 18's for whatever is left of summer (we have to worry about winter up here) and then getting 19's for next summer.

hard to judge because the fitment is still horribly off. post some pics once the bodyshop has finished.

props on getting the custom work. looks like it's going to need something to fill that space in the front. not sure if i like it but definitely want to see the finish product.

do you have any pics of the rear of the front bumper? i'm more interested in the molding process going on here.

i agree, also i have to say that it looks pretty silly with the bumper supports showing on the upper vents on each side. i guess we'll have to see what it looks like in the end.

Looks good, not my thing though. I personally would just "enhance" the look of the car of rather than using syling cues from another car(R34 and Evo). I would have just gone with the ronjon kit, clean . But I gotta say kudos on your creativity, I'd love to see the end results. Good job .

Looks alright...kinda too for my taste. I think it'll look 100x better without the extra vents where the bumper supports are showing through. And get rid of those side vents.

The STYLE of the bumper specifically is called the R34 bumper, and it exists as an aftermarket option for many other vehicles out there.

Appreciate the comments, both good & the bad.

I'll post pics of the finished product probably early next week when everything to do with the car is done.

I dont know if you already said but... are you planning on mounting side skirts and rear bumper also? With just the front bumper it would look funny to me

The bumper looks nice by itself but not sure if it really flows with the sideskirt (pic2), I know more body work is on the way and it is too early to tell. IMHO even the custom wide body R34 kits that were done in past (by two members here) which looked nice but did not really enhance the look of the car, it made it look like a Scion TC on Steroids. To each his own but I would just stick with kits like Ronjon's which accentuates the original lines of the car. Good luck and props for trying a custom job.

I guess what it really boils down to is perspective, I've only been driving even for the last 2 years so I can't even recall what aftermarket bumpers looked like in 2000-2002.. so for me, this is pretty new stuff, and I understand that for someone like you, its probably been played out over and over again so now its just blah..

A lot of people are mentioning that the Ronjon kit would've been a better alternative, I've seen it, I've priced it, I've thought about it and there was nothing holding me back (even financially it would have probably costed the same as this project did) but I just simply don't like the way the front bumper of the kit looks.. No offense ofcourse to Rondog, he's done an amazing job desigining and even producing a kit. I love the sides & rear but the front just doesn't work for me. The same way my front bumper doesn't work for others but its all just opinions in the end.

I personally cant wait to see what the finished product will look like, I had my doubts midway through the project if it could've been pulled off because the big difference between my car and the two cars that had previously done this my 19 year old student budget. But it looks/feels like its going to work out.

Oh, and XkRaZiX's car never had the R34 bumper, he used a different one.. so the only person whose actually done this before is Essarak when his car was gray.. when he changed it to red he used the G35 Top Secret bumper instead of the R34 one.
