I went to my friends shop today. Were going to get my car on the lift early next week and take some measurements to figure out what materials we need to finish the exhaust. Once those come in, I can install the headers and we can finally finish everything up. We also have to install the aem fic to fine tune everything. I'll keep you guys updated!

Some of the materials came in to finish my exhaust. The 5ft section of 3 inch tubing is back ordered so it won't be in till next week. Once that comes in will set a date to finish the exhaust. I will have a comptech j pipe for sale soon also, freshly ceramic coated.

I took all the exhaust off last night and matched the headers perfectly with the gaskets. Out with the old and in with the new! Were building the rest of the exhaust today.

Yeah it wasn't too bad.I have a good burr bit so really it didn't even take that long. Yeah I remember seeing your thread when you did yours lol.

No equal length downpipe on the rear bank?

I'm n/a but I will be spraying the car with a 125 shot also. It's only 2 1/4 so it's not really that big for n/a. I had dual 3 inch on my mustang so this would be on the small side for a v8 lol.

Yea, mine are 1-1/8" primaries to 2.5" downpipes into 3". There was definite gain in power across the entire rev range, I was surprised. I still have yet to dyno it. Once I get a set of mounts and axles that wont break Ill strap it on the dyno again.
#99
That's a nice setup also. I can't wait to feel/see the difference it makes. I might get the j pipe and mid pipe ceramic coated like the headers but I know it's going to be expensive as hell so I might wait.

Yea, when I can find some down time for my car I plan on pulling the headers out and having them coated. It just sucks that the runners are so big that I need to pull the rad and front mount

We got some more work done today on the exhaust. I just have to figure out how I want my mufflers to sit, then the rest should be finished tomorrow. Here's some more pictures.

I personally would attempt to make the rear longer to make them equal length. Its done that way for a reason.

^^ if it as a true dual it wouldn't be that big of a deal cause the flow of each combustion would not interfere with eachother. but since they are merged, theoretically they should have the same length so each side of the motor puts out the same power.
otherwise u actually have uneven power on either side of the motor which throws off symetry. but who knows how much of an imbalance it actually makes

Even if they were true duals, its still good to have equal lengths on all cylinders. Also, if they were true duals, there would most likely be a X or H pipe connecting the two.

We were thinking about making them equal length but decided not too. Will see if this design actually works better. I'm putting the car on the dyno tomorrow so I'll have video. I had to order a vibrant performance ultra quiet 3 inch resonator, it's way to raspy for my style. That will be here tomorrow, will dyno the car after we install that. Everything else is finished, I left my camera at the shop by accident so I won't have pics until tomorrow.

The untouched comptech design is equal length. There's plenty of dyno numbers to compare my dyno sheet too. People usually pick up around high 20 whp and low 20wtq when they just bolt on a set of comptech headers and j pipe correct? I'm almost certain that my setup will have more gains than a untouched comptech design. As long as it does I will be happy. To me and a few other reputable people think that whole stock/comptech j pipe design is stupid when they saw my car at the shop, that's why we did mine the way it is. The only way to know for sure is when it's on the dyno tomorrow. Honestly it feels a lot faster driving but I have no clue to what the actual gains are.

We took the mid pipe back off today to install the resonator. It sounds a lot better but it still has some rasp. I can deal with it though.

Here's the before and after dyno sheet. I also noticed my before pulls were uncorrected (STD) so they are slightly higher by about 5whp and 5wtq. So overall I picked up about 30whp and 15wtq with the new exhaust setup. The car feels better across the whole rpm range now, especially towards the higher rpms. Now I have bad traction issues in 1st and 2nd gear lol.
BEFORE: 246whp 223wtq UNCORRECTED (STD)
AFTER: 279whp 238wtq UNCORRECTED (STD)
272WHP 233WTQ CORRECTED (SAE)
