Try Wheels of America. They do very good work and it is warranty for the life of the wheel.

I had two wheels from my 98 Jetta VR6 fixed with them. Very good work.

They have several locations call 18005551212 for information and ask for the 800# of wheels of america.

Wheels of America is a pretty good place. I just got my wheel done there. I looks brand new and you can not tell the difference. They can fix any kind of scratch on a wheel. They also fix bent and crack wheels too. They have a fix cost of a total of $109.

EricL,

Mike at Truwheel told me that it may not come out because of the rounded lip that these rims have, but I convinced him to try fixing it at my expense of damaging the whole rim. I.E. My rim was the guinea pig in being the first one attempting to be fixed. It cost was $100.00 for resurfacing the face, repainting, clear coating the rim, balancing, and mounting. Truwheel took about two days to fix the rim. I obtained a free spare rim, so there was no down time on the car. Hope this helps you Eric.

Well, I replace the valet damaged wheel at Keyes, and it ended up being displayed on this forum (it was being sold on Ebay, and I recognized the distinctive scratching).

Mike told me that there were tiny machine/lathe marks and said that they would heliarc to build up the rubbed (raped) areas. He said it would be impossible to "match" the lathe marks.

Perhaps I should have fought with him to have him try, but he was "down" on the job, AND I did NOT feel any confidence exuding from him. It wasn't like he said, "I think we can get a good result. Would you like to try?" He said just the opposite, in fact he tried to sell me some cheapo cast wheels and Re-730s in lieu of my combo. The Zenetti wheels looked nice, but I knew I wanted really light ones when the time came.

So, I guess enough time passed or your were much more persuasive that I was. I have four stock wheels that I'm keeping just in case, but if he can fix them well, then this is good to know, 'cause he is very close to me (and I may end up buying my wife a TL-S or something similar...)

EricL,

Mike was correct in stating that neither the lathe marks nor the repainted part would match up perfectly, but seeing was believing. I think Truwheel states that to protect themselves, because I could not tell the difference between the original painted rim from the repaired one. The lathe marks are slightly bigger than the stocks marks, but only noticeable when up close (very close). On the other hand, if your rim was very badly damaged, Mike stated that they could weld fill(heliarc) in the rim but that portion of the rim would have a pitted surface after the lathe process. I don't know how badly your rim was rubbed (raped), so maybe that's why Mike declined to fix your rim. I am trying to manage an earlier flight back into LA, so that I can attend this Sunday So Cal meet in Irvine (if there is one), so you can see the repaired rim there if you like.

Thanks for the offer -- perhaps I'll run down (don't know yet).

One or more valets did the dead on my wheel, I only saw the damage the next day. I didn't even try calling the restaurant where they parked the cars on the adjoining streets. As I mentioned, the wheel was sold on EBay (Keyes must have given it away to someone who put up for sale there).

My rim was so badly ripped up, that it was "safe" to drive on, but one could see the huge tear in the wheel from 50 feet away. It was about 2 or more inches across, and Mike said it would need some serious heliarc work.

The factory wheels are now boxed-up (just in case), while I now drive on the SSRs. I have already gotten careless and rubbed a few curbs with NO scratching. It is nice to be able clean a rim protector with a little water followed by some tire dressing. I think I saved a thousand dollars already *and* I now park within eighteen inches of the curb (unlike my stock wheel days).

Your info should get put in the FAQ section if it isn't already.

EricL,

Same hear. I also had a valet attendent scrap the rim, but sad thing is I could not prove it. By the way, do you have Navi on your car? If you do I wanted to know if your tire combination effected it? Wanted to get a little more input from other owners with Navi in their car before purchasing my Volk Racing SE37A 18" x 7.5" rims. Yeh, let me ask you this question? With this rim size would you go with 225/40/18 or 225/45/18? I am leaning more towards 225/45/18 because it matches the stock wheel diameter the closet that I have seen. Lastly, How do I request this topic be put in FAQ? I am sure this topic will help those with scratched rims and those going to get scrathed rims.

1. Re the FAQ -- just open a fresh topic with a backlink to this "thread". Put something like "Soopa -- FAQ this topic please"

2. I think the 225/45-18 may be good if your going with a non Toyo tire. The load ratings are terrible in 225/40-18 in a lot of the tires. You will increase the radius about 2% (I think you will be OK). Most of the non-Toyo tires have a 91 load rating in the 225/45-18 vs a rather low 88 or less load rating for the 225/40-18s (non-toyo).

3. My size and tires work perfectly with the NAVI and VSA. I have had the sats. "go-away" for about an hour due to sunspots. When the sats. came back, I was within a few feet after driving for more than an hour. The 235/45-17s (by Toyo) had a very similar rolling radius to stock, better load rating, and had the stock XL load rating too.

If you are NOT going with Toyo, go with the 225/45-18 for the load rating, the 225/40-18 in the non Toyo is WAY TOO LOW!!!!

The 225/45-18 should work great on a 18x7.5" wheel and you should be able to lower the car if you like.

I would have trouble with my 8" wide wheels and 235 rubber if I lowered. I would get rubs in the front (so says someone who did this).

I have another friend working on a 235/45-17 on a wide 7.5" +52 offset combo with lowering, but I will have to wait to see if this is what he ends up with (and if he does, how it works out with the Comptech lowering springs).

CL Power,

Here is the address and phone number to get your rim fixed. EricL suggested to have this put into FAQ, but never got around to it. Hope this helps.

wow, they have a location right here in Farmingdale, NY - about 15 miles to my south.

Their webpage says to get faster service, you should ship your wheels to Houston or LA. I may just wait until I move to HOU later this year to have my rim done.

Hey Scott,

Practice your sliding lately? In regards to the rim color I have chosen silver, because it has an excellent contrast with the Acura CLS's black. By the way, how is your CRX coming along? My mustang is still getting prepped for painting.
