before all of you start yelling at me for not searching through previous posts i want you to know that i did. Here is my question, i bought a used 01 cl-s and i didn't notice i had a cupholder until lik a week after. So after searching posts I see that the cupholder is lik $10. At the dealers he tells me that i need that $10 insert and some other $20 ring or something. Please advisse me on what to do, I would like to get the better cupholder in the later cl but i don't know how that would fit. If anyone could fill me in on how to do this i would appreciate it most definitely.

 

Forget about the two piece cupholder set. Get the one piece newer cupholder. To be on the safe side, order by part number (someone here will provide that). It will fit and you'll be happier and I even think it is cheaper.

 

Ask for the 02 or 03 cupholder. It is a one piece deal that only costs like $10 total. I can't find the part number off hand. Just call the dealer and ask for it. See what they say.

 

My dealer's parts manager said the 2002 cupholder woild not fit in the 2001. He was shocked when it snapped in perfectly. Some 2001's required you file down one tiny piece of the 2002 cupholder; mine didn't.

 

Yeah that's what the dealer thought, so do not order by make and model and year.

Order by part number, don't tell them what kind of car it is for.

If you tell them what kind of car you have and they look at the part description, they will change your order.

Insist on the part [number].

 

or, just say it's for a 2002 CL

Yep. The new cupholder has clips which hold onto your drink. It is also deeper and doesn't need that goofy 'drop this in to hold smaller drinks' thing.

The part number is 77237-SOK-A02. On newer cl's there are two tabs on the forwards most side of the cup holder hole, and the cup holder should snap in there. If your car doesn't have the tab inserts, you can shave or cut the tabs off the new cupholder and it will fit just fine.

Yeah, the first time I saw it i was at work and was cracking up for soooo long. Everyone looked at me like I was a weirdo!
