The CTS... do young people drive them?
Just curious...seeing a few CTS's lately made me think about this. I seem to recall Cadillac saying that the CTS was going to be part of their revival with the affluent under-40 crowd. Maybe it's just the area I predominately drive in, but the only people I've seen driving CTS's are about 65+.
How about you all in other parts of the country - is the CTS a hit with the younger crowd or is it still mostly in Cadillac's senior citizen demographic?

I saw a Caddy commercial over Superbowl (i think) and their line seems to be more geared for the younger crowd. No longer do they have the huge boats and giant fenders.
The last time I saw the CTS was exactly a year ago at an Autoshow...not very impressed w/ the overall build package. The interior seemed plasticy and poorly built. It had the big GM radio/HVAC buttons that I hate. The exterior styling was ok, but it's not really my style (especially the orange one they had on display).
But I can say I have almost never ever seen a CTS on the road around the area I live.

yeah, i haven't seen that many. A couple here and there. Something about it just aint right. Usually cars grow on me...but this one hasn't. Doesn't have that "solid" appearance. I dunno.
I can honestly say I've seen less than a dozen of them in the wild. And the drivers looked like they've owned Caddies before.
GM announced there's a higher performance "V" series CTS on deck for 2004. Maybe a little more pep would help.

I think between the CTS and the XLR, cadillac can revive the under 40 crowd quite a bit. I personally think the CTS is one of those cars that will make your head turn, although it is not too attractive. I don't think I would choose the CTS, simply because the price tag can afford other vehicles which would be more appealing to me.

Didnt Cadillac try to appeal to the younger crowd with the Catera? Did'nt seem to work, also remember the Cimmaron? Get real, If I had that kind of money to spend it would'nt be on a Caddy. You buy one for like 46k and 3 years later its worth like 7500k, the only real good blue book values GM seems to have is in thier Truck line, Corvettes, and SUV market. Nothing against GM though, I just like a little more for my green backs, and I want it to be at least sellable and worth something after I am finished with it, that means Toyota and Honda products for me. If you lease, well then that's another story....
i like the direction Caddy is going with the exterior. but the interior of the CTS . . there's isn't a puke icon messy enough to describe it. it looks like it was literally pieced together from the old Cimarron parts bin. the edgy theme is OK but it's so not integrated. they need to clean it up and make everything work together a bit better.
the center console looks like a desktop computer with a floppy drive :o
But dont worry about what other ppl would drive or how other ppl will look at u. Go for it if u like it. Plus everything's getting blurred these days anyway - from old guys driving celicas to young thugged-out food-stamp collectin homie-Gs driving s-classes with 20" rims and high school kids driving huge SUVs

I not really worrying about who is driving the CTS. My question was purely out of curiousity to see if Cadillac's actual buyer demographic was shifting or not. I don't want to buy one or anything.
For 2004, I think you're gong to see a new interior......well that's what Lutz is on record for saying, even he hates the CTS interior.
Assuming the interior gets an overhaul and with the upcoming CTS V......I would consider it, the car is going to be ridiculous with 400hp. Especially that it's going to have 18's, 6spd, different body kit, and will most likely have dual exhaust pipes.

Im willing to bet you will see a lot more younger people buying the CTS and V series when the next matrix movie comes out, seeing how it is featured prominently in the movie. Right now the poeple driving them are still middle aged to older.
i used to hate the exterior and now its growing on me, but like everyone else says, the interior is not very well done.

Well, a good friend of mine had a Catera and IMO, it was spacious and rode nice but he has all this little quality issues. And the dealer was an idiot. He checed out the CTS we me and we both thought the Catera was roomier and the interior was better (the CTS interior is horrible, period). I kinda like the styling from some angles and the paint is TOP NOTCH. I think it needs larger wheels and lowering BAD.
Anyway, he bought a GS 400. The only people I have seen with a CTS are old people who want that young image I guess (they are really missing the mark). Kinda like the Lincoln LS, it is supposed to be for young people (whatever) but only old people looking for a young image buys em.
I think Caddy will FOREVER be an old person's car (unless it's the Escahoe, then it's for rappers and ballplayers and pimps). They need to RECOGNIZE THAT and LOCK that market (cause there is going to be hella old people soon). Instead, these people buy LS 430s and ES 300s and Acura TLs now.

I actually don't mind the interior. The car from the front is hot, but the rear 3/4 and rear view takes some time to get used to. It is too big back there.
I can't wait to see what it can do with the LS6 in it!

Cadillac is trying, Jesus half the ads during the Superbowl were theirs but i don't think it's working. Maybe with the new model next year and the bigger engine. Seems like the average import buyer is not gonna go to a Caddy dealer, yet.
I guess young people are looking at the CTS. I was reading an article in the Daily News about the new heir to the Onasis fortune. They quote a couple of girls -
Joanna Sapienza of Franklin Square, L.I., will soon be 18, but she couldn't imagine what to do with $1 billion. Her advice to Athina: Buy a Cadillac CTS and dump the boyfriend.
