Question CT Headers = MPG+?

I am having a hard time believing it, but it seems that I've gotten a slight increase in MPG since I put on Comptech headers on last week. When starting from a full tank of gas, I usually get to about 160miles before the needle passes the center mark. It's been like this consistently for the past 10 fillups.

Since the header install I've been driving the same trip to and back from work and, of course, going WOT way more frequently. I noticed today that I hit 175 miles to the mid point. Doesn't seem quite right. The only other perf. mod i have is a CT icebox with k&n.

Anyone else have the same experience with their headers? In either case, I'll be happy to take it. Gas is at $3.39/gal for 91 here

You should notice an increase. Wait til you install headers, intake, exhaust, cooling mods, spacers, and a UNIchip and you get about 32 mpg on the highway doing between 80 and 85 mph.

Freeing up airflow into and out of an engine makes it more efficient... An engine is a big air pump, so if you remove restrictions from the intake or exhaust, you increase efficency (hp and mpg)...

^ I am with you, it doesn't seem like my mpg changed with I/H/E. Still getting about ~22-23. Although my driving characteristics may have changed since the mods.

Stop living in VTEC.

I was still getting about 17 mpg on the city roads. But strictly highway, I would get around 32 with all the mods.

Hmm excellent. Looks like these headers will pay for themselves after 177 fillups.

You will most likely gain 1-2 mpg on the highway. However, for city driving you may lose 1-2 mpg.

Ravi, I need to get my UNIchip tuned and actually use it.
