Cracked windshield -how soon to fix?
i had a crack about 3 inches long for the longest time. i was going to repair it but just forgot about it. the crack is now about 7 inches long in an S-pattern near the left, bottom corner of the windshield. i just noticed this morning how it got larger.
so i'm guess this is not covered by warranty and will have to look into insurance? can i wait like 2 months before i fix this? i would really like to go home after my summer session and fix it rather than in ATL since i have classes and so much to do. thanks a lot.

could have been free
99% of insurance companies allow small cracks to be fixed for free. but a 7 inch crack is gonna be hard to fix. you're gonna probably have to replace it which'll cost up to whatever your insurance says.

I know in Florida that by law, the insurance company must replace your windshield if there is a crack in it at NO CHARGE to you. I'm not sure what the law is in Georgia or whatever state you are from. I would take care of it pretty soon, as the crack is only going to grow larger.

The crack will get longer with time due to the heat from the day and cold from nigth. most auto glass repair shop will not fix that big of a crack due to the possiblity of the windshild cracking more as they inject the acrylic resin to fill the gap. You need to get a new glass. If your a student you should have enough time to take care of your car.

what do you mean by if i'm a student i should have more time to take care of my car? my car is in tip top shape man. i'm doing 2 classes (organic is one of them) and a part-time job so i would rather wait if i could.

I think what dfv3.2CLS meant to say was that the process of getting the windshield replaced does not take very much time, so you should have an hour or two to get it replaced....whether you are a student or not, there is always time...

2 classes? are you on the 8 year plan? i graduated only 2 years ago and i was taking 5 classes a semester, one of which was orgo. and yes i had a part time job. only like 8 hours a week but i was playing a varsity sport that took up like 20 hours/week.
you have PLENTY of time to get it taken care of if you make the time.
