cracked oil pan

So, theres a small crack in my oil pan most likely from this dip I went over on the 71 in so cal. My question to you guys is how much does something like this cost to repair? My car is lowered so there is no way warranty will cover anything. Also, can anyone give me some feedback on Acura of Riverside on the 91. I go to school at UCR so I'm just gonna take my car there to have it repaired. Unless there is some other place nearby that someone could recommend.

Oil pan replacement is expensive. The oil pan itself will be >$400 install is extra $$$.

seriously, I thought it would be less is there any way i Could get it replaced my warranty then. I thought it was gonna be like a $300 or so. I have a lil over 50k miles on my car. Or, can i get it replaired or something along those lines? Since the damage was incurred for driving on a rough road can I file a claim with caltrans to reimburse me for my damage? The road I drove over was all potholed and dipped and thats what I almost positive of that caused the damage.

Not likely, hitting a pot hole is not a defect.

Depends on what the damage is. Might be able to get it welded if it's a small hole or crack.

"Almost positive" won't cut it, you would have to prove that the pot hole did the damage. Car being lowered won't help you any so don't bring that up.

Write to the city hall about the damage roads and how it caused damage to your car.

I did the same a few years back when a pothole bent one of my rims on my other car. A week later I received a phone call and a check in the mail.

why not go back to where you think you broke your oil pan with the pot holes and find like an oil leak of some sort on the concrete. at least that will help you improve your case against the city. and if there is a lot of oil around on the road there, wouldn't that also indicate a huge problem and that others may have also encountered the same problem?

Easy fix, I had the problem a while back.

1. Drain Oil completely.
2. clean cracked area
3. Put some epoxy on it. Problem fixed.

It will hold no prob I did that and had no leaks for over a year. Then I got a new pan, but that's for totally different reason.

I would prefer not to use apoxy as I prefer to not have to every worry about it. But titan19 when you had your oil pan replaced how much did it end up costing you?

I got a new oil pan with my turbo kit so I don't know how much it cost. I put it on myself, but if you're halfway handy, you should be able to change the oil pan.
