Cops pulled me over for DODGING POTHOLES !!!

Can you freaking believe it !!!

I was driving through a small town (Freemansburg, PA) on my way home from work Friday night.
It’s a relatively narrow road with parking on both sides. The speed limit is 25MPH and I was only going about 20-25.
The place is speed trap city so I always watch my speed through there.
Because of the bad winter we’ve been having the road surface is positively LOADED with craters in the driving lanes.
Because there was no oncoming traffic, I was slowly swerving back and forth and basically drove right down the center of the road.
One car was approaching so I got back into my lane until he passed then swung out into the center again.
I glanced in the mirror and saw the unpleasant flashing BLUE & RED lights behind me.

He asked if I knew why he pulled me over, so I said, “Probably because I was driving down the center of the road”.
He was pretty cool about it. I explained that I was worried about damaging my wheels and he glanced down at the front wheel and agreed.

He asked if I had been drinking at all and ran my License and registration and then sent me on my way.
He told me to just drive SLOWLY through the holes and I wouldn’t damage the car….YEA RIGHT.

If you are cool with the cops they are usually cool with you. Most of the time, not all the time.

This does not apply to teenagers.

Well, he could have seen the remote display, but the main unit is up too high to be easily noticed while standing by the window.
You need to bend down and look UP at the headliner.

I was actually more worried about the window tint.

He was just doing his job I guess, if he would have ticketed you then it would have been a different story

Oh, I totally agree. I’m not bitching, just sharing a funny story.
It’s just that it was kind of obvious what I was doing if he was following directly behind.
If you saw the road you would understand.

It's nice to know, even in a small town, you can still find cops that are not dickheads.

As you said, small one-lane towns usually = speed trap with cop waiting behind sign. I'm usually pretty aware of this myself when I drive through small towns. They're looking to make revenue from someone who goes 30 in their 25 MPH zone.

This reminds of one time where I was caught going 5 MPH above the limit (about 40 in a 35 zone) from a cop that was hiding in a used parking lot at the end of town. I just started speeding up to hit 55 at the town's end and he grabbed me about 25 feet in front of the speed limit sign. I thought I was being careful, but I guess not careful enough for this small town cop. I actually went to court and the judge dropped it to a $10 fine without points (!). I think that may have been my last citation, about 15 years ago now.

My favorite thought about that event was that the cop hid in a USED CAR PARKING LOT with all the other beater Chevy, Olds, and Fords (middle America). Smart cop.

Shawn: This sounds to me like a great marketing opportunity for our friends over at Kalecoauto.com. Ask them to develop a resevoir to put an asphalt patch compound in the engine compartment. We have lots of room up there! It won't work until the engine warms the asphalt compound, but we can always wait a few minutes for the ride to warm up. If those at MB and Audi and BMW, can squirt cleaning fluid on the headlights, I don't think spraying an "instant cold patch asphalt" will be too difficult for the acura engineers to develop. Just turn the squirters around!
