Comptech sways...

I finally got my Comptech sways...woot! Now I got some questions. First off...what's the torque settings? How do I get rid of the squeaking thing that people mention they have with Comptech sways. I recall the solution was teflon tape, but recall there was a new solution. Thanks people!

I believe it's 28 ft lbs on both the front and rear sway bar bushing brackets. Not sure of the torque on the end links but firm with 3/8 drive should be more than enough.

I just used the teflon tape and put multiple layers - no squeaking yet.

With your strut bars, your car should run like it's on rails. Tear it up!!!

If this OFG (old fat guy) can do it, you can too. Took a bit of putzing around to get the front on. But it'll go.

Yeah its easy enough...til now I had done only routine maintenance. I just did em and its sooo easy. hour thirty for the fronts (figured out what was going on) and 45-60 mins for the rears. And I did it on stands, fronts went all the way up, rears only about halfway.

Its easy, i installed them myself that way. and its the first mod i ever installed myself

As for squeaking, i first taped the bar with the teflon, then covered it with grease...so i used both. U dont wanna wrap too much tape because then the bar will not be fastened as tight as possible to the bracket.

u put tape over the area where the bushing goes....Before u put the bushing on, tape the area where it would go and then, put the bushing on....but dont put too much of a thick layer, then it would not be a tight fit...i just wraped one layer of teflon tape, and then lubed it with grease, then put the bushing on right on top....hope that helps

For those that put the sways on themselves, was the front bushing polyurethane or rubber? I have stock sways for now, and I got polyurethane front bushings and when I went to replace them, the stock fronts seemed to already be poly, so I didn't swap them.

Stops Squeaking Now

After the dealer's silicone grease wore out I used Dow Silicone Spray..........Prestone's is good too. A couple of squirts on the bushings and I haven't heard a "peep" in months!! Try it!

i had my installer do tape only, and it was squeaking within a couple months. i can see where it's worn away. i would highly recommend tape and grease for anyone who is installing it. i'm gonna pick up some Dow Silicone Spray ASAP!

auto parts store..........

I've had the can of Prestone so long, but I remember buying it on the road in an auto parts store. Stuff works great at stopping rubber seal squeaks around doors, and winter squeaks from plastic panels too. The Dow I got from a medical supply warehouse years ago.
