Comptech SC update

I talked to Comptech today and the word is in "2 to 3 months" They said they have the SC hooked up to a TL-S now and the problem has to do with the VSA and restricting H.P. I'm no engineer, so i don't exactly know what that means but if anyone here wants to elaborate please take a shot. I asked why they released the tranny cooler when the SC wasn't quite ready and he said it's still helpful, and with their cooler and the fluid used they've dropped the temp 70 degrees. Anyway, i'm still hopeful and just have more time to save

The prob is that the amount of TQ being thrown down is causing excessive wheelspin at the line that the VSA is trying to counter. Thus retrding timing and throtling the car back... Catch 22 .. Want power so you hit the gas ... sensors detect massive whelspin imminent and retard he timing / fuel..... easieist way around it is to remove vsa all together

vsa retards timing ? too bad tha rev limiter isn't like that.

i guess it could be a liability issue for comptech to recommend you drive around w/ vsa off

There may be more to it than just wheel spin. There could be potential ECU tuning that looks at the rate of the rev increase. If this slope is too high the VSA could be activated.

But honestly I think this is too far out there for this car and most likely it is limited to wheel spin.

i dont understand. this is exactly like the ice box problem. its not like comptech can do anything about this.

think about it this rationally. If VSA is a problem for the sc, can anyone tell me how you can fix this besides reprogramming the ecu to adapt to the s/c???? there is no "cheap way" the only thing i can think of is comptech spending a lot more $$ into R&D into a chip or a electrical device that would trick or modify the controls of the VSA system. if so then the s/c is going to be well over 5 grand. i dont see this happening though.

the ice box is having problems because of some type of excess noise or buzzing noise during idle? if this is so what the hell is that suppose to mean? i mean its a filter with piping how the hell is there going to be any noise? probably poor R&D? i mean AEM and Injen have no problems, and there are some people that have made custom intakes with no problems...

THIS IS WHAT I THINK

they should just say FUCK IT and sell the damn thing and just tell people if you plan on "spiriting driving" please turn off your vsa. otherwise this bad boy will never come out for the auto tranny.

oh yeah i want to buy this bad boy so comptech just release the damn thing...

Re: Comptech SC update

Ah... Was i right in my guess ..... LOL....

It is all about VSA and not just CLP's traction control....

Makes a lot of sense... VSA integration is a bitsh... we may nerver see a CLS SC application... this is why the JC walked out from such a road...

Scalbert.
You know better then that... Not on this car it doesnt LOL!!

I think you better go to bed bud your getting sleepy

Everyone Else:

Here we're looking at

A) Steering angle sensor
B) Yaw rate sensor
C) Lateral acceleration sensor
D) Left & Right wheel sensors

In launching the car:
VSA is not that much of the technical marvel Acura makes it out to be all it really does is use TCS (traction control system) to detect wheel spin in either right or left wheel and then the VSA sends two signals .. first one to the brake modulato to apply brake pressure to the spinning wheel and then it traction control signal to reduce engine power.

In turns:

It reads yaw to correct oversteer and understeer by either braking the outside front wheel or inside front wheel & cuts torque.....

Also heres some little known facts about VSA problems...

Aside from VSA kicking on when there is Wheelspin/Oversteer/understeer it ALSO is fired off by:

1) MAP Sensor (geee under boost? imagine that)
2) Intake Air Temp Sensor (compressed air gets hot too)
3) EGR (wonder how the calculated for this ??)
4) MISFIRE of the PGM-FI (hmnnnnnnnnn curious huh?)
5) Heated oxygen sensor (Need some NAWWWS LOL)
6) Fuel supply system (Wow surprise surprise)
7) KNOCK Sensor! ( theres an important one!)

So VSA is not just limited to wheelspin and turning... but all of the items in the list WILL cause a VSA indicator to appear as well..... Hence why most people jus rip it the hell out alltogether and read sensors and fuel ratios to see whats happening ... Now I hope you se why Comptech is having issues....

You don't think Acura would go to such means...

In truth there have been implementations of similar calculation, just not on a Honda...
