COMPTECH OR K&N FILTER?

I WAS WONDERING IF THERE WAS A DIFFERENCE IN THE FILTERS AS FAR AS LIKE PERFORMANCE, QUALITY OR EVEN SOUND?
THE COMPTECH REPLACEMENT FILTER IS LIKE TWICE AS MUCH AS THE K&N..

I'd get the K&N if that was the case.

Drop in = get whatever is cheaper

If you actually want gains, step up to the icebox

You get gains with a drop in as long as the intake resonator is removed.

Just go with the K&N drop in. If you have the cash, get an Icebox.

Thanks Soooo Much Guys. I Will Just Get The K&n. I Cant Do The Icebox Cause It Will Void The Extended Warranty I Got On The Car, Sooo Therefore I Probably Couldnt Replace The Resonator Either, Unless It Is Something Not Really Noticeable When Gone...lmk

Its not, unless your remove the bumper. The resonator is below the bottom section of the box your filter sits in. Its out of sight.

I just dropped in the K&N and removed the resinator. Much easier, cheaper and just about the same gains or close to the Icebox. Taking it was easy, and if i recall correctly, you dont have to take your bumper off. Just some of the bumper screws from the drivers side to slip your arm up there.

Another thing to note is that the filter sits pretty high in the car (bumper/fender seam) if anyone is worried about hydrolocking. In anycase, if water gets up that high (4'+ flood), you have allot of other things to worry about.

Not true... mods to the car can't void the warranty unless the dealer can PROVE the mod cause the damage. People have superchargers on their cars here and they still have a full warranty.

Search here for more info... using Magnuson-Moss or Magnuson Moss as the keywords.

The Magnuson Moss Warranty Act protects comsumers.

Nope, the resonator is just there to stop the incoming air from resonating

On most cars an intake resonator just quiets down the intake noise...

Well some extended 3rd party warranties do have it in fine print that any modification from a stock setup does void the extended warranty. But something like an icebox looks so stock that unless the person knows what's supposed to be there you shouldn't have a problem.

Yep Yep. Thanks Again Guys. My Company( Fidelity Warranty ) Does Say Any Kind Of Aftermarket Mod Does Void The Warranty, But The Filter Is Not An Issue...
Hell, I Was Gonna Do 19's And They Said It Would Void My Tranny Warranty, So Thats Why I Am Just Gonna Get 17 Rotas...anyways, Thanks Again

The next time i take my car into the dealership, will they gladly assist in removing the resonator or do you think they will resist? Im totally useless when it comes to working on cars.

Haha. Sorry, Anyways, They Will Not Remove That Resonator Unless They Were Your Friends And Didnt Give A Damn. Any Authorized Place Will Not Yank Off Parts Of Your Car, At Least None I Know Of....
But Anyways, Thanks Guys. I Have An Appointment To Take It To My Local Acura Dealer And Have Them Comepletely Go Over My Car, Then When They Are Done, I Think I Will Jus Remove That Resonator. I Highly Doubt My Car Will Have Any Major Issues With Only Having 68k Miles Anyways, But I Bought The Warranty, So It Is What It Is...

I just noticed that every single word in your post is capitalized. Is this done intentionally? weird.

So how's the k&n on your car? I finally made up my mind, i have k&n filters week ago. Although there are better brands but i still go with the price and a nice performance too.

There aren't any better brands then K&N that I've ever seen. Best performing air filters on the market.

As for a DIY, it's not really needed. You open the airbox by undoing the 2 clips and sliding the tabs out on the engine side. Then pull out the old filter and put in the new K&N one. Close it back up (might take some work to get it to close right as the K&N's seal is a bit thicker then a normal paper filter seal) and your done.

i have K&N drop in and removed res and the filter doesnt really seal perfect on 2003 CL-S's... on the side nearest the battery, it doesnt seal on that side.... the screws side works like normal tho... but at idle i have this super annoying noise that doesnt change pitch..... and i dont know what it is..... could it just be the intake resonence? Sp?

Seals fine on mine. I can see people having issues with it not sealing right though due to the tight fit and the work required to get it to close. I'd suggest ya take it out and put it back in. Should be able to make it seal without issue.
