Comptech Icebox/headers & greddy evo2 installed PICS

I installed my comptech headers and icebox along with a greddy evo 2 catback on my clp. What a f@#$ing combo!!!!!! First, the note from the exhaust is incredible, from when the key turns and not to loud while cruising but throaty at WOT. Second, the headers have painted a smile on my face that hasn't gone away yet. My car feels quicker to Vtec (5500rpm) and all the way through the rpm band. I didn't notice any low end power depletion with the addition of the exhaust, which looked a little imposing when i first saw it but i am quickly getting used to it. With the limited choices for our cars i chose the greddy because of the note I heard from a posting by MATTG, the comptech tips were too small and i thought there might be fitment issues, the apexi wasn't completely stainless (which i wanted) so........... Also i love the hiss from the icebox when you shut off the car. Feels like a whole new car. The only thing left to do is some tuning and dyno, i am unsure whether i need a fpr like the HKS of VAFC but i want to wait and see the outcome of tuning the EU for a NA vehicle like mine. Overall i'm F%$#in happy and hope to stay away from jonny law while i enjoy the new mods here are the PICS

no, that is next on my list. i'm not sure whether to go with the H&R sport drop with koni yellows or tokico fiveways or the tein coilovers w/upper pillowbal mount with Edfc(the more expensive but i think better option). i only want to lower it about 1.5in then get some rims!!!!!!!, thanks for the response

my car was idling perfect when i picked it up from the shop and i haven't recieved any check engine lights as of yet so i believe the ecu has adjusted itself to the increased breathing but we'll see. in fact start up is one of the most rewarding products of the installation.

i got the exhaust from a local shop ( North East Auto Design) for 880.00. Since i have a clp i got the exhaust for an accord 2dr v6 with the optional dual kit which made it more expensive but if you have a cls it would be about a hundred dollars cheaper, i had to forgo that one because of a different cat and i wanted to do as little fab as possible. i agree that the tips should be just a little higher i was happy with the alignment as the two curvatures match ( have the shop working on that right now) i am getting up early to wash, clay and wax so i will def post more pics with complete views ( was in a hurry to conribute to the zine!!!!!)

Con Grats!

Looks good. By the way, how does the Greddy sound vs Comptech?

How much HP did you gain or did you think you gained?

Glad to hear. Love that set up. =)

I would do what someone said earlier though, and raise those tips up a lil' bit to match the bumper cut out alil' better. Otherwise, it looks hot.

And the icebox does do the hiss when you turn it off? People say it doesn't.

Thanks bro i haven't really heard a comptech exhaust but i can tell you the greddy sounds throaty at wot and throughout the rpm band, i love the sound of the exhaust when u turn it on especially. i am going to dyno it when i take it back to the shop to raise the mufflers i am hoping for between 25-30 whp but we'll see this week, i'll post dyno results soon (might wait til i get the lightweight crank pulley/belt and new spark plugs)

yeah like TypeR told you.. pull the mufflers up or you will scrap them up either going over speed bumps or backing into parking stalls.

Did you disconnect your negative battery terminal when you did the install of the ICEBOX?.. you should of... it resets the ECU...

yes, one of the benefits of this being the most technologically knowledgeable sites for enthusiasts about their cars, i had done extensive research by searching this site endlessly and ran across several threads where that was mentioned. i even printed out a portion of a thread that had tips for the install of the CT header/icebox combo so the only possibility is if the shop completely disregarded the info i gave them ( i doubt it b/c it's a good friends brother but anythings possible)

I think the tips are just fine, A buddy of mine just put a can on his 240 and the bumper is actually melting where the tip hits it. I can't wait to see more pics!!!

That's the one thing I hated about my EVO2 is that they hung so low. Took it to a muffler shop and had to cut the hangers shorter. Looks a lot better.

Easy Modification?

I'm having my EVO2 exhaust installed this week. Was the modification to the hangers an easy one? If possible, could you please give a bit more detail. That way, I can let the installer know that a modification is possible? THANKS...

It's a simple modification. Take it to any muffler shop and tell them you want to raise the mufflers up a bit. They'll know what to do.

yeah you got to raise those.. looks like your buggy got flower pot mufflers.

not hating, but in those pictures it looks like you strapped rocket boosters under the back bumper.

different strokes for different folks...
