Comptech Ice Box Question
www.autocarparts.com says it's available but the comptech website doesn't have it listed. What's the deal?

dean,
oh whatever you can do is cool! Awesome, i have an AEM intake sitting my garage which i need to unload now so i have the $ for the ice box. I would think the dyno numbers will be the same.

I'm an auto too. I'm doing the AEM CAI thing first. SC may be a risky proposition, but my tranny has performed wonderfully (given that it is an auto tranny). I may do the SC. Gonna trust that some of you guys will get it first and let me know the ups and downs with the SC and auto tranny.
Do the SC, then of course AEM CAI gone and CT IceBox in effect.

CLSter,
I don't think you will find it for less anywhere. Yes, it is for the 2003 Type-S, it was delayed due to Acura changing the headlight design.
If you guys would like me to start a list, I will be more than happy to do so. I already have a list for the S/C and it is growing everyday.
Just let me know and I will do so.
Thanks
Dean

I heard the sound of the icebox will be more muffled than the CAI, and it is going to have a flat filter and not a cone, so the performance should be less? Am i missing something here? Do people just want CAA (Comptech All Around)?

I believe performance should be about the same. True it will be a flat filter but FOAM is the much better than COTTON for airflow. Also, I believe the ice box design will allow for smoother airflow as there will be no need for a bypass valve.

The performance will be similar to other intakes. The IceBox has an integrated valve in the lower part of the box that prevents water from being drawn into the motor.
Pricing is very similar as well...AEM, ~$185 + 40 (bypass valve)= $225 plus freight....Comptech $240 shipped from me.
Thanks
Dean

I contacted Comptech by email and they said that it will use a cone filter.
Here is the quote, "The filter we'll be using for the cold air kit will be a cone style filter. It's not the same as the drop in one that we offer now."

Yea I did the same, I never installed a by-pass valve. I purchased the valve .5 year after I got my CAI but never installed it. No its not because I'm a lazy FK. Even thought I am, I mean the only time I ever FK my GF is 4 in the morning. Because at that time I have morning wood and don't have to try to getting it up.
But all u have to do is don't fkin drive in puddles, thats it.
And now about all u people changing out ur AEM CAI for CT IB....why??? U won't have that bark that u get when u throw it into SS 2nd, creap up next to a pig, and then floor it. Man the reaction that u get from doin that is FKin priceless:
CLS - $30K
CAI - $200
Ticket - $1000
Look on pigs face when u bark at em - FKin PREICELESS
But what I want to ask is will the AEM CAI directly bolt onto the CT SC? Or would I need some modifications?
Tnx

Icebox review
Thanks to Dean, I got the Icebox for my 99TL. You can read about it here:
http://honda-acura.net/forums/showth...threadid=12058
Feel free to ask any questions you want. You can also email me at sam_suen@csaa.com. Since that review, I had driven my car another 1000 miles and the low-end and mid-range is a definite improvement over the Weapon-R Shortram.
PS: Whomever wants to buy my shortram, it is still available for $75 shipped.
