Comptech Header Question

Hello,

I finally decided to through down some more $$ to get the Header and Sway bars. It took me awhile to recover from the Kit and the Rims.

I was told from my dealer that the Comptech header for the 6 speed works for the AUTO also, but the Auto one does not work for 6 speed, therefore, I ordered the one for the 6 speed, just incase I guess for resale or something.

My questions is that: Does anyone else on this board have the same 6 speed header on their Auto? if so, any difference on the install I should know about?

Thanks in advance!!

Ummm.. you're dealer is wrong... kind of....

the actual headers themselves will fit on either car... however, the pipe which connects to the headers is different on the 6speed vs. the auto. So if you have an auto... you want to buy the auto headers... if you have the 6speed... you want to buy the 6speed headers.....

Here's a quote from a previous post..... this quote by sidemarker is from the question... will the headers for the auto fit on the 6speed....
"The downpipe will fit

The front header will fit

The rear header will NOT fit

The rear header has an extra bend

Comptech sells the rear header for $400 bucks for the 6 speed"
Which means that the headers for the 6speed are slightly different then the headers for the auto.

I'd call your dealer ASAP to make sure you're getting the right ones....

I just could wait.. You guys got me worried.. So I just called Comptech, and they (Nate) told me that they redesigned the header for the 6 speed so it will fit on both.

But my question is still there.. does anyone have the six speed header on their auto, and if so, any install differences?

Thanks again!!

I am pretty sure you are the only one that has done this. Good advance thinking on your part! I never thought of it that way.

Not really.......

The Headers designed for the 6-Speed will fit BOTH Trannys.
The Headers designed for the AUTO will only fit the AUTO.

I believe Dean said that in the near future Comptech is switching production to the 6-Speed design ONLY so there is one universal part that fits both.

Shawn is correct

The only difference between the 'auto' and the '6spd' header is
an additional bend on the rear manifold to clear the 6spd rear tranny mount.

The 6spd header will fit BOTH trannys
The auto header will fit ONLY the auto tranny (no extra bend!)

I doubt there is any install difference CLS2001_97124, just a bend. Where did you buy the headers from and how much?

I called the Velocity Resources and mention about he internet deals they were giving to the people on this board. So Jason from the company honer it. I'm paying $1279 for Header and a set of sway bars.

That good right? I think that was the offer before.

Someone posted earlier on a different thread, that the 6 Speed Comptech headers actually gives less horsepower because of the bend. Could that be right?

Dean is from Velocity Resources, and Jason works almost side by side with Dean, so I think I came pretty close to the same deals from the thread you provided. But thank you anyway!!

The bend is on only on the first runner (tranny-side) on the rear-manifold... its not going to make a dent on the hp!!

I got my Comptech for $900... someone asked about prices.
