comptech exhaust is swaying

anyone have a problem w/ their exhaust moving around too much? i had a couple friends tell me that on the freeway my exhaust swayed quite a bit when i hit bumps etc. not so much at lower speeds though. the exhaust utilizes the stock hangers, right? any ideas for a fix?

Mine too......I think its because the mufflers are smaller/wiegh less than the stock ones. There is also probably a different center of gravity too.

You didn't happen to follow instructions and lubed the rubber mounts??! Cause if u lubed it so that it'd be easier to put on and take off the muffler, that would explain why they sway so much

not sure about that, they have been on there for a while in wet weather and they get hosed off all the time. i guess i'll just have to get under there and see what i can do.

my stock exhaust at high speeds swings side to side too. i checked the hangers and i noticed that there is only one side to it. im probably taking it back to acura to see if they can tighten the bolts.

Even if u regularly hosed them, the rease that sits between the rubber mount and the metal hanger on the exhaust would still be there, keeping it pretty constantly lubricated and slippery.

if there is grease on it then it came from the factory. i would say this problem is more common then we know, since you cant see it while your driving. i personally have never followed behind my car before.

I know when i put on my Dragers, i neer used any grease, that's prolyl why it took some force to pull the hangers out

Swaying exhaust is perfectly normal, and happens with the stock exhaust. You just notice it a LOT more with big shiny cans and tips.

My exhaust was also swaying a lot. After the shopy modified my exhaust, they took care of the swaying problem.

It perfectly normal- they all do it. They are mounted with what amounts to a very thick rubber band to isolate the nosie and vibrations. the stock units sway around too. Nothing to worry about.
