Comptech Clutch/Flywheel installed

Took 4 hours... quite a pain actually... need to remove the entire front subframe!!

Feels great... more seat-of-the-pants difference than the Comptech Header.

I rented some time and tools at my friend's shop... so it only cost me $100 for the install.

Car feels great except that its 105 degrees out here today!!

Yeah.. it will be interesting at the track... although we'll have to wait and see regarding E.T's.

The stock flywheel is weighs a ton!! Revs drop much quicker and pickup equally fast. Idle changed about 300-400RPM, so that's a pretty hefty load off the crank.

Anybody else planning this mod? I can suggest a few things to make installation straightforward - although I wouldn't recommend this to be done at home because doing this under a floor-jack and jack-stands would be horrible!!

Don't scare me away from doing in the garage, my back is in fine shape to allows easy access to and from the underside of the car.

Anyway, great to hear you got it in. Please keep us updated on the response and the changed aspects.

It's definately do-able at home... just might be a pain. It will help to have an extra set of hands... this tranny is pretty heavy as well. The basic removal is pretty standard to any fwd transverse-mount motor-setup, except for that front subframe. The front stabilizer arms need to be removed (driver-side) and of course the subframe... I just think it will be tough to do this with the car on jack stands.

I drove the car this evening when it had cooled down a bit... boy it feels good!! 2nd gear is STRONG... 1st is non-existent... it spins to redline each and everytime from 3K onwards... you can nudge the throttle until... say 5K and then floor it and the tires light up.. very similar to the turbo except for instant response.

The clutch has a slight shudder... probably the material type... clutch feel is about the same, although it appears to catch lower in the pedal travel.

3rd chirps nearly everytime now... the sound depends on the road surface.. some elicit a nice "chiirrrp" while others just causes some tire spin without sound.

I haven't done a hard 1-2 shift yet as I want to break the clutch in a little more.

Might need to make another kit! Or try some N2O someday.

Is that some type of subliminal message

I'll run the car first... then depending on how it runs, I'll go appropriately. If the car runs like a mid or high 13... then I might choose that route... if it runs low 13's... then it might be relatively simple to get into the 12's. After this a > 0.5s improvement will require internal engine work.
