You gotta admit that the CAI is a very basic item. I guess Comptech could claim that they use the skin of a virgin water buffalo or something like that but it's pretty much an aluminum tube with a K&N filter on the end with a foam by-pass valve in the middle. I have an off-brand (the X-type of which we secretly speak) and it's as good as an AEM, Injen, or any other one out there. Why wait for Comptech?

well..my main reason for comptech is because of the dealer's whining about voiding the warranty. i mean, i just rather have the security of the comptech name not voiding the warranty.

i dunno though...i've been spending my money elsewhere, so i still have time till i can get the CAI.

Hmmm... Seeing as you’re in California, I'm going to want to hear from you about passing smog!

Sounds like you have an interesting story to "share" about your 3.5L (Is it a Doug special or a MDX block splice?)

My dealer, Park Avenue Acura is selling AEM and was selling "X" type as well so I don't think warranty is the issue. Other than water ingestion, I don't see how a properly installed CAI, Comptech and otherwise would void a warranty unless your dealer is being unreasonable (I can't imagine that!)

Re: Comptech CAI?

Don't know but I'm going to wait on the one with the

"skin of a virgin water buffalo"

There's just got to be a difference in that and Plain
Aluminum Tubing !

hmm...well the two dealerships i've talked to told me to at least wait till the comptech's CAI came out, because the other CAI's could possibly void the warranty (namely water ingestion, because my car has been flooded before).

Although, I kno that comptech's CAI (or box) is not immune to water ingestion, that's just what the dealer told me to do, in order to avoid voiding the warranty.

Yea, the dealer is being pretty unreasonable, but I haven't found a reasonable enough dealer down here...(maybe u guys down here round MD could suggest one?)

And also, Park Avenue dealership is verry cool with that kinda stuff (more so many other dealers in this whole area), or so i've heard.

( and how much HP does the skin of the virgin buffalo add? does it add as much as the type R stickers? )

just installed aem short ram/weapon-r cab today...niiice...somewhat more quiet than the aem cai(dunno about injen)...cleaner sound...not as deep though...i cant identify any gains in performance through 1,2,3 gear...however...once 4th comes...the car pulled easily to 138 before i remembered that i already have 4 tickets in the last 8 months ...although you will probably have to get in touch with an aem/weapon r dealer over the phone to acquire the parts as i havnt seen them availible anywhere over the net...400 w/ installation
