Comments, Bitches and Gripes...

What is wrong with people on forums? Not just here but everywhere. We come to these online meeting places to learn about our passion, help others, and generally just chat and make friends. I have been online for about 10-12 years and have been on too many forums to remember. If I want to know something I know there is a forum out there that can help. With that being said it seems that some members forget that newbies join all the time. And yes they are bound to repeatedly ask the same questions over and over. Alot of member instead of giving a productive response will flame the guy and tell him to search. Well let me tell you after you have done a few searches and gone through several pages of posts and still not found the answer I will start a new thread. I think it would be much easier if the old timers instead of saying search would actually give a legit answer or not respond at all. I work in IT and 75% of my job is answering very simple questions that are repeated everyday. You know what? Easy problems are fine with me. I still get paid. Just something to think about.....

I usually will spend a couple minutes to do a quick search for a noob, post a link and the search keywords, pat them on the head, and go back to making fun of the tools in ramblings

You should have seen some of my 1st posts 5 years ago...

I don't think your post is helpful. Your basically bashing members because YOU don't like the way they do things.

That's not cool!

You know what you can't search, is EGR. And when you type in egr valve, it says "egr" is too short or too common and skips it, thus only bringing up threads with the word valve in it. I search literally for an hour and a half looking for an old post from back in 2005 for a newbie. I could have replicated the answer, but it became a game to me which I didn't mind as I was bored as hell. Still can't find that short essay I wrote...

not to sound crude.... but in my years on forums online, I have noticed that every noob that ask a very simple question like "how many horses does this give me" and "what kind of intake to get"... Those are very simple items to search.. If a noob asks a more sophisticated question with a correct explanation then maybe they won't get flamed or their thread will not be locked.

Yes we were all noobs at some point but you must understand that some repetitious questions are too repetitive. I mean for this forum, for example.. There is a question sub section and their is a website dedicated to most of the noob answers.

Sorry for the rant. I'm not trying to bust your balls about your thread, but there are easier ways to find simple answers than to make another thread

I do agree that maybe a better search engine would help.

Just for you bigjack...

In all seriousness creating a thread like this is just going to get you flamed more. If you ask a legit question you will get a legit answer. If you start a thread asking which tires I should buy, or which oil to use your going to have people telling you search. If you have been online for 10-15 years you should not be surprised by this anymore. I would develop a thicker skin or move on from this subject.

Also I noticed that most of your threads have been answered with pretty good answers, so I don't really know what your bitching about. Its not like your water-s..

If you really want to introduce yourself, stop by ramblings and say hi to sarlacc

I think we should invite Whiskers into 2nd Gen CL. He'd have a field day in here.

I agree with the OP though, Azine does have some people that just need to ease up a bit on the flaming. And indeed the seach function needs to be reworked because I always seem to repost something in Ramblings because I'll get what Coco gets; this or that is too short or too common and nothing comes up.

Unfortunately though just the nature of forums means that things like flamming noobs and bad eggs will never go away. If there's a computer and network in between you and the person you're e-fighting with then it's hard to really learn your lesson about keeping your trap shut like if you get knocked the funck out in the real world.

Search for EGR*

The search engine won't allow you to search for three (3) character strings, but will let you wildcard for them (i.e. RSX* NSX* etc).

You can use google specifically on this site alone (cl.acurazine.com):

Just put in "fuzzy site:cl.acurazine.com" (without the double quotes) in google to find all the occurances of fuzzy on cl.acurazine...

Or Cocoa could put in "EGR site:cl.acurazine.com" to get all the occurances of EGR...

You can exclude specific keywords too using google. Just kick on the "advanced search" button on the google from page after running "keyword site:xxx.com" search... or "egr -purge site:cl.acurazine.com" to see all the threads with egr but skipping all the ones that mention purge.

edit: I should put this into the FAQ's...

What's more annoying is the lag it puts on the server if everyone could do as many searches as they wanted. It helps to keep the size from grinding to a halt.

IMHO...this is the internet...if you want people to be nice go talk to your friends...and yea i do agree some people get jumped on aka flammed for stupid reasons but at the same time what do you expect, everyone to be nice...theres assholes all over the world and now their all online...i try to search and if i dont find my answer i ask someone real then still no answer i will start a thread...usually that helps and keeps me from getting flammed...

on another note...i suggest we get some regional threads going for each car section...not that i have a problem with everyone but its kind of cool to be able to keep in contact with people in your own region even if they have the same type of car or not...probably would be easier to manage then having a super meet section. Just post meets in the region and everyone is updated...my

oh and BigJack75...whats your question that your looking to get answer...or are you just ranting?

i do beleive in SEARCH FIRST then ask questions. when i first got my car i would spend hours on here just searching and reading on all kinds of shit, and guys who i thought were knowledgeable i would search thier previous posts, thats what its there for right? whats fucked up is some boards you have to pay to be a member in order to search or even post a fucking thread, hell you cant even PM a mod without X ammount of posts, now that is bullshit. Azine is a great board, very cool and helpful members. now if you want to hear some groundhog day everday seeing the same question shit all you have to go is go to _locktalk.com hehe
