So long ago that I barely remember applying, but because I lived here I only applied to the two local law schools anyway. Hope you like law school; you hear all sorts of horror stories about it but I thought it was a whole lot easier than working for a living.

Just finished applying to USC, UCLA, UCSD, UCI, UC-Berk, UCSC, UCSB, UCR, & UCD. I forgot to apply to Penn-State...oh well. Hopefully someone will accept me. If not, then I'll be at a junior college for a year...*sigh*. But at least I'll get to drive my car around for another year lol.

I chose to go there because it was close. I really wanted to go to TCU but couldn't afford it, UTA was free! And, you're correct, UTA is a quality school-with not a lick of spirit.

Miami Killian Sr High... guess im the only kid here

but i do have my CCNA, A+, and part of my MCSE

Heres a question for all you computer guys.
I am just starting to look at colleges, my end goal is to be a network administrator for a major company or a network consultant. Any suggestions for what major to look for, any schools better than others?

I would really appreciate your guys input, seems like you have already gone through the process.

My ass if pretty lame. I haven't been to college yet, mainly because I have been on my own since I was 17 or so. I am just lucky that I happen to be good with computers and haven't really needed to hit the books yet.

Larry, check out Grove City near Pittsburg. My boss went there, and they have a degree in Information Systems (I think). The is different to COmputer Science in that there isn't really any programming. Albright only has Comp Sci, which was learning how to program efficiently and unserstand the crazy math behind it. One good thing abotu Albright, they have this new program abotu optics! Check out the website.

How was UC Davis? Is it in the middle of nowhere? I am considering going there if I get accepted...any nightlife at all or anything?

Oh, and most importantly, is there parking for students?

Hey Iridium:

Davis was a good place to go to school, but the social life kinda sucks. However, like most schools, you can always join a fraternity (like Pi Alpha Phi =b...)--there are parties pretty regularly.

In terms of parking, we have pretty good facilities, but there really isn't a need to go park at school. A lot of people either bike there (the bike city of America) or take the bus for free.

Excellent, another Atlanta member.

My brother graduated from Southern Tech. w/ an IE degree and then went and got his MBA from Kennesaw State. But I still occasionally comment on his Imaginary Engineering degree, JK. But hey, I have no room to talk... Started as AE, that lasted 6 months and so did the time at the school. Then on to CS later???

But for nearly 10 years I have been working in the industrial environment changing hats daily to IE, EE and ME all along throwing in CS to boot...

Have you landed at any certain company yet?? If not, are you looking to stay in ATL or have your sites on any specific company?? The SE is wide open and in great need of engineers. Heck, I need to hire an EE pretty soon, know any??

Drop me a note sometime, I am tentatively planning a Mountain driving excursion coming up in a few weeks. I wanted to get as many members as possible.

1 semester of college in 1981 before I realized what a waste of time and money it was. Figured that if the professors who were teaching me were so smart they wouldn’t be in college teaching as broke professors.

Make more money now than a lot of people I know with a degree.

Bachelor of Science - Computer Science (minor: Math), long time ago

MBA Marketing - U. of St. Thomas (Minneapolis), 1998

Currently thinking of what else I can do school wise. It's good to see a lot of folks here getting a good education. Yeh, school is a pain, I hated every minute of it. But it's worthwhile, just hang in there.

BTW, I did go to the U.S. Military Academy (West Point) for 2 years back in the 80s but I realized that military service was not an option at least for me, no flame to our fellow military CLers.

I am currently working in media / web field (nothing imaginary engineering can't do )
We just laid off bunch ppl this week... I survived the first cut, tho who knows how secure my position is couple months down the road?? By then if you need an IE, you know where to find one! I will put "CL-S Owner" on my resume

Know any good roads around here? All the car commercials makes me wonder where the hell they find those nice long straight flat roads with amazing surroundings

Up in the mountains are the best roads. Not long and straight, just tight turns with quick straights all while with a canopy of trees all around.

I'll let you know the next time we plan a trip.
