Cold Air Intake Submerged

When i was shopping for the CAI i saw the bypass that i could buy for another $50. But then i was like c'mon how often does it flood in SF. I had the intake for a couple of months and it was flawless. Then yesterday i am pulling out of the parking lot at work and didnt even trip there was a big ass puddle. this is pretty stupid but it had been a long day for me, and my car gets stuck in the middle of the damn flood. My friends were laughing and i had to get out to push the car out of the foot deep puddle. Let the car sit for a minute then started the car with my foot on the gas, car steamed for a couple of minutes out the tail pipe and it was all good. At least the pistons and valves will look brand new with the steam cleaning they got. HAHAHHAHAHH

Wow, I know you wrote HAHAHAH.. but if you read a few posts up about Sidemarkers experience with the valves and cylinder #5 you will notice it will cost him over $7k. There is nothing funny about it and it would be your fault if there is/was any damage. And water doesn't clean pistons/valves, it causes hydrolock.

there is a process where a controlled ammount of air in induced into the intake system to clean debris in the engine...

contraty to popular belief small amounts on water in ur motor can be beneficiary. its not played with much anymore but im sure you can find some stuff online about old school water injection. however a puddle isnt good.

how deep was the puddle? this is exacully what im afraid of? Did the puddle just splash up into the intake or did ur whole front end go into the puddle?

Water injection is still used today. It helps control detenation by qunching the chamber. Also on a non computer controled car you can crank up the timing if you are running water injection. If anyone has done a head gasket before you would know that which ever cylinder had the water in it looks brand new. The water was pretty deep when i got out the the car it was up to my calves. To avoid this for the near furture i just put the stock intake back in. Then i noticed that if i dont put in the resonator it is almost like the comptech intake without the forward facing duct. Oh well I will save the money for the Avic-N1
