Cold Air intake

I realize this has probably been covered a million times already, but.. which cai ( AEM, Injen)offers the best hp increase, does the by-pass valve reduce hp, and is the K&N filter worth the extra bucks on the cai.
Thanks
Dave

they offer the same hp increase. yes, you may lose a bit of power w/ the bypass. as for the filter the aem comes w/ a k&n, not sure about the injen.

2 other options would be the comptech cold air box or the weopon R ice box. both eliminate the possibility of hydrolock and are supposed to offer the same gains as a cai. they are more expensive though.

i recommend the AEM, has a great sound after 5000 rpm......F1-like. and if you like going into water that is deeper than your bumper than get a bypass valve, otherwise don't waste the time and money. i drive through heavy thunderstorms and rain all the time without one.

Roughly the Injen and AEM are the same as mattg said and you do lose hp with the bypass. I would recommend the Comptech Ice box. But if you want a CAI instead, here are two places that you can buy it from www.no-limit-enterprises.com for the AEM and www.ptuning.com for the Injen (site listed by Nashua_Night_Hawk). As far as the CT Ice Box...it's not out yet due to an issue with fitting on the 03 models. Look for it at the end of summer or possibly even the end of the year. But the advantage to the Ice Box will be that the design will prevent hydrolock and also not lose hp because of the bypass issue. Also it would be much easier to change the filter too. But the Ice Box supposedly won't be as loud.

According to Dean the icebox wont be out till at least November when it comes out with the S/C...

According to the Comptech website's forum...it'll be out by the end of summer...

Either way its gonna be expensive...I'd think at least in the $300 - $400 range...compared to $200 for AEM or Injen...it is just a pipe with a cone filter at the end...

AEM and Injen...yea it's just a pipe and cone filter...the Ice Box is a completely sealed box with the filter located in the same location as the stock intake. Plus the Ice Box is plastic and should dissappate heat much better than the aluminum that the CAI uses. But yea...Comptech is overpriced...but there will always be some aftermarket maker who will over price their stuff. Just the mentality that if you charge more for something...it has to be quality. I don't know...IMO.
