CLS vs. New Dodge Truck Hemi??

This may sound stupid, I don't know. A buddy of mine swears up and down that his new Hemi dodge truck will smoke my '01 CLS. I laughed at him, but was curious. If they have the same torque as a Ford Lightning it may be tough. What do you folks think would happen? I say, the ACURA decals are going to burn him!!! Thanks anyway!

you should kick his ass, especially from a stop.

you'll def beat him...i'd say by a couple car lengths...the only trucks I can think of (stock) that we cant stick with stock are F150 Lightning, F150 Harley...yea thats it. The new Ram Hemi and the Chevy SS are gonna give us great competition...they'll definitely be riding our ass. However, we should beat them both stock vs. stock

http://www.motortrend.com/roadtests/...163_0308_3way/

Check that article out, its pretty good. Its the Chevy SS vs Hemi vs F150 Harley.

SS, Hemi, Harley (in this order)

0-60

6.62, 6.83, 5.96

Standing quarter-mile, sec/mph

14.99/89.05, 15.12/89.06, 14.39/96.33

You'll beat the hemi. The CL-S auto does like a 15.5 @ 93 or something. the hemi runs a 16.2 at 86(car and driver). That hemi was an auto with the 4 doors. The 2door short bed w/ manual should be quite a bit quicker. If your buddy has one like that it may give you some trouble depending on the launch. Hope this helps What do you guys think? I haven't seen too many Hemis w/ a manual in a short bed but that should be a badass truck I've seen a couple w/ the Hemi short bed auto, though. I priced one at almost 30k(manual) by the way, way too much for that truck it did have the 20'' though

Let us know how the race turns out.

I Agree. Even an auto 2WD short bed. It will depend on the truck's configuration and driver's skill.

4WD or extended cabs will kill him.

Having some decent tires will help you. (and $400 for headers is a small price to pay when your pride is at stake.)

I bet that AWD Chevy gets off the line consistently and quickly.

Close but more like 14.8-15.2. Just for example I ran a 15.2 @92-93 on a really hot/humid day and I think I am at the bottom of the spectrum as far as launching the car (I think my best 60' was like a 2.4x that day). Best with headers so far is a 14.6 @96 with a 2.35 on a very cold day.

I raced one about a week ago, it wasn't even funny. This guy thought he could hang, he was all antsy at the light inching up in anticipating the green. I didn't even launch hard and in 2 gears he was 2 cars back. The best part was by the top of 1st I was directly at his side and banged 2nd hard letting out an HUGE screech as I pulled away. It was sweet. I had a dude in a Hemi-Durango try to mess with me on the Tollway also....it was even worse for him. These guys in their Hemi's think they are it, they have bought into the hype and Hemi-mystique. Phooey!!

Race him, you will embarass him.

Later,

I was being conservative with the 15.5 stuff. I just wanted to show that he still had an edge on the guy none the less.

Besides if he was living here it would be a lot slower than a 15.5. The altitude adds a full sec to the 1/4 mile.

I think they just "forget" about how much their trucks weigh. They've been duped by the commercial.

IceColdCL: "Hey man... that thing got a Hemi?"
friend: "You're about to find out!"

** at the finish line **

IceColdCL: "Ah, I guess not... cuz Hemi's always win in the commercials."
friend: "shut up punk! lets have a towing contest now"

I have raced my friends new hemi truck. I smoked him on a couple of seperate occasions. I also raced one on the interstate the other day. He hit it around 75 or so, i only went down to 4th gear and still pulled on him a little bit. I have a stock 2003 cls auto. I ran 14.61 at 97mph. So that 15.5 stuff is smellin of bullshit.

That's a nice time for an auto.
