CLS vs GS400 revisited! hehehehehe =)
Breaking news you MFRs!
Well yesterday I was I received a phone call from my uncle and guess what he bought his wife. A maroon/um burgundy color '00 gs400 with gold package no navi, no sport package and those freaking UGLY ass (16)rims that come w/ a stock gs4. Well anyway, he didn't buy it for her for speed, just the name sake.
So guess what? I went over there. I reviewed the ride and I got to say it is fast in the upper rpms, the seats feel like a sofa, and the stereo is sub par, imo. Anyway, to the point... On route 5 in clinton, my uncle and I wanted to test out the speed of the GS to my weak CLS. HAHAHA! Anyway, at the entrance of Andrews Airforce base and rt5 is a long stretch of road that leads to, 495. The deal was to see who gets to the ramp first and from there i will head home. We get to the light and pull over on the shoulder waiting for a red light and whala. We move over b4 any cars role up and we line up even. At this point he is talking so much shit. I am laughing (i just did this race) anyway, light green, he gets a ridicolous amount of wheel spin and I am LAUGHING MY ASS OFF! Rear wheel drive with torque and weak tires SUCK COCK! haha! Anyway , I was gone b4 he could even lock up. The outcome.... I was at least a car 1/2 infront b4 he even new what was happening, we entered the highway, and DAMMMMNNN he was closing in on me, he got to my bumper but it was too late i was heading on the highway (495) ramp. He calls me on my cell phone wanting me to take the next exit and turn around for a re-match, I TOLD HIM HELL NO! He was so mad! Anyway, thats my revisited story of the day! Flame on!

I don't know about the traction control or how it drives personally. I was in the passenger side when my uncle was showing me the power of the car. My family owns all types of lexus so I kinda know a little about them. I do have to say tho, if he did catch traction i would have probably been toasted. He caught me so fast after my lead that it didn't make since. His/her car is broken in anyway w/13,000 miles on it. My only gripe was the suspension, and tires. Too too soft for me, however, no matter what the situation or car was, I have the satisfaction of beating him, and I will not race him again unless headers are installed. :P :P

Try turning the VSC off. And to properly launch a GS4/430 you need to brake to about 1500 rpms. There is notorious bog due to TPS turned down in factory form. Of course, an SRT Race ECU/intake resolves that. You'll even chirp it from 0 with the 17s and VSC turned on.

Oh yea, the suspension is way too soft. Lexus offers L-Tuned springs and shocks that greatly shore this up. Frankly I think it borders on unsafe in stock form given the power of the engine.

the verdict=B.S.
So you beat your older uncle who probably did not to drive his new GS like a madman cause he had it less than 36 hours.
So he bought it ONLY for the name "Lexus".
From exit ramp to exit ramp, say it was 1 mile apart. You say your uncle was "only" 1/2 car behind (even with all that wheelspin) and he did not catch up.
BULLSH!T. Cause in 1 mile both cars will top over 100mph EASY and the GS will pull on your car and pass it with no problem. Then at 110 mph, he calls you on his cell (which you answer) to keep going.
C'mon, you could have made up a better story than this.
If his tires were slipping as bad as you say (with VSC and the Traction Control) you would have been ahead at least 2-3 car lengths from the jump.
ClubLexus is having a meet in Deal's Gap in September, we'll be glad to have a stock GS race you since you seem to always beat them bub.

Oh and he did buy it for the name. My uncle and his wife are not into cars like most of us, his wife hears the word lexus, and thinks it on par with a mercedes/bmw. My father has an LS430 and swears it the best car in the world because he reads consumer books. My family is not to bright when it comes to cars and status. Would you like me to explain anything else for you? :o
oh yeah - my uncle is not much older than me he's 35 so get it straight, he drives an E430.

if it happened it happened........ shit happens- thats why we race right? if we knew the outcome would be the same every time why waist the time racing? its not like he raced his escort against a viper... they raced 2 cars that are within .5-.9 secs of each other in a 1/4... imo id say that is a drivers race especially when the supossed faster car is driven by someone that doesnt know how to drive.
lets keep it friendly peeps

Actually I drive Hwy 129 at least once a year; the Dragon is absolutely wonderfull, although it does tend to stress out out a bit when taking it at 100%.

Dude, you should attend, we should have a blast. I'll send ya a link to our info.
Nothing against Thoro dude, I am just adding fact. LS 430 was found to be the finest car in the world FYI.

Not to be a smart ass, but your GS400 is a big boat.
I ran a friends GS400 in austin. He told me he ran one a while back a CL-S and he could not loose it.
I ran him, same thing, I couldn't pull but neither could he. We got it to 110~ and let off.

I find it funny how people post kills saying they ran with a GS 400/430. It could happen 0-60, but anything above that I find to be BS unless it is a heavily modded CL-S or a 6 speed with a great driver. I saw a stock GS400 run 14.4 at the track last summer, which is faster than almost all of the modded Auto CL-S's I have seen on this board, so what gives???

Correct me if I am wrong, but that is one of the best times on the board? When the weather gets cooler, traction becomes a problem and hinders 60' times a little.

Go spank some GS' Steve
For the record, the S-types can hang with the GS until about 80mph and the gap widens. BTW, what is the cd (drag) on your cars? I think the GS is a .29.

Oh my bad, I am wrong and your right..... lol whatever.
www.edmunds.com
Weight: 3715 lbs. GS400-430
Acura CL-S 3440lb.
0-60 GS430 Acceleration (0-60 mph): 6.3 sec.
Auto Acura CL-S 6.2 0-60..... hmmmmmmm
Also if you even THINK your car can handle as good as ours on a track you are stupid. Recent tests against the BMW proves our car handles just as good as a 330ci. Your big GS400 will not do that.

Ahhhh, another Car and Bible Follower. Edmunds got the slowest time I have ever seen in the GS. Though it is believable. Cars can differ. But you of course would never point out the fact the GS 400 was the fastest accelerating automatic sedan when it's inital run of 0-60 in 5.7 sec was established by Motor Trend, when it won CAR OF THE YEAR.
RWD owns FWD, simple fact on the track.
Big, what is Big. The CL-S is longer than the GS bub. THe GS wheelbase is way longer=a smaller feeling.
Drive the 2 cars, they are very different driving beasts.

On a track, where u can actually prove how a car REALLY handles the GS is better performer.

""ThoroDredCLS"" I will race you . I have a GS400 with 20inch rims and the SRT Intake/ECU. I see we are local so lets set it up. We can do a 1/4 mile race and then you can take me where you and your Uncle raced and I can show you what a GS400 will do to a CL-S on a distance. I will keep the 20s on so you have an advantage off the line. I ran 14.4 all night long at the strips around here and alot of other GS4 onwers have too! What track have you been going too? I also seen both auto & manuel CL-S and the best I've seen them do was a 14.7. My best stock time was a 14.294 and thats on the 17 inch chrome rims. Not trying to start nothing the guys at CL will tell you I'm a cool guy. Let me know If you want to set up something, I might even switch cars with you so we can see if its just the driver!

Thats nice :o But I have had my car two years now and I have only raced 2 GS400. I don't care what you guys do, over at lexus, I post my stories win or lose. Look at my kill/to death ratio. You do know the GS430 has amost 100lbs more torque than you correct? 325 lbs mostly available below 3000 rpm. These guys are growing in numbers
Funny, I don't ever recall posting I beat E55 or XJR thread anywhere.....nope, I lost, do the math.

A CLS will do very well against both the 540 and GS400 off the line. Moving, the V8's have WAY too much torque and it is not a CLS strong point against a V8.
Thoro, I live in the area as well. I've raced many many GS400's and some I win and some I lose but not by much. I have yet to lose to a stock or modded CLS/TLS. I'd be willing to have a friendly run witcha! Not trying to prove anything, or who's a better man, blah blah blah. To tell you the truth. All the CL meets I've been to, all you CLS owners are stand up guys and gals. NovaWhiteTypeS is a very good friend of mine. ( I wonder if the raped that Maxiima yet...)
Just let me know. GS400_Pusher, I'd love to hook up with you and that infamous LexCiting with his bad ass blown GS!

AC.... I'm down for it. PM me with the time and date. And for Lexciting I don't think anyone here would come close to what he has under the hood. I will have the same set-up in Dec. time frame.

well i'll add my 2 cents...because of the v-8 talk...how's a 99+mustang GT ...auto's i walk on and lightly modded stick's are a drivers race to 115 mph which i will not race higher than that and by lightly modded im talking intaked ,flow masters, tires ...my car WILL run 13.9 all engine this winter
