depends on what you're looking for. is this going to be a second car or a commuter? if this is the latter, go with the cl type s. i mean, you're also getting a new car for less than what the guy at your work is asking for.

Is it the M Coupe or M 2door? The hatchback looks cool... but the 2door(coupe) looks old.
The new 328i with sports trim really puts the 2000 to shame. The car is fast, but I don't think it's very comfortable to drive. Even if you want a stick, the clutch in the M3 is never smooth and it reaches redline horribly quick. Especially if you're used to high rpm cars. It's also much stiffer than a CL-S 'with' springs. No tilt steering, awful to look at red dash lights and long throws on the shifter.

Don't get me wrong... fast fun car. But, I hated driving it everyday.

Firstly this is th M coupe not the M3 . I think the M coupe is ugly as hell, but besides that . It just depends. If having a BMW means the world to you then go for the BMW. I had the same decision to make when I bought my CL-s , but It basically came down to why by a used car with less features and 15,000 miles on it when I can buy a brand new CL-s with everything on it and still pay less.
However to some people having a BMW means a lot , just depends man . I dont think you would go too wrong with either one . I can tell you the CL-S is a shitload of fun . Drive them both and see what works better for you

M coupe is fast and sporty but has NO room, so be sure you won't need more than 2 grocery bags. Some call it ugly, but it sure has character...............it's probably for sale because it has NO room.

isn't the M coupe that ugly ass thing that looks like a cross between a Z3 and a 3 series wangon. And has a hard top. with 240 hp the only thing pushing for it is RWD which I wanted but setteled for FWD in my baby and haven't regetted once, especially after I learned about the "benifits" *cough*oversteer*cough* with my dad's Q on acceident.

con; bmw is higher to insure, purchase and maintain, only two people, limited space for luggage and passengers, get more tickets.
pro; more fun to drive, handles better, faster, higher status, manual trans.
i would love to have one, but its to impractical for my needs.

Yeah, from all accounts you get more with (and from) the CLS than the M Coupe. I guess since I won't be able to afford the Q45, I'll have me some fun with a new CLS...still have a month until I buy.

Being in Austin, I do want better handling for all our nice twisty roads. springs, sways and shocks will be in my future...I just hope the ride isn't TOO stiff since this'll be my one n' only vehicle.

Now I just have to figure out colors....red is sounding mighty fine to me.

Thanks for all the info, guys!
