CLS rated #1 in a test, anyone?

Hey guys,

Does anyone have the any links that rate the CLS as #1. I believe there was an Edmunds.com test where is was number one even over the BMW 330Ci, and I can't find it! I have a silver 2003, 6-speed, w/ navi on order. Unfortunately I have to wait until February to take delivery. Blahh!! Anyhow, I want to show off a bit that it rates number one.

Thanks everyone...

If memory serves me correctly (IRON CHEF!!!)...i dont think the cl was ever rated number 1 by edmunds, could be wrong though, but i do konw that the TL was rated number one over a 330i on a couple ocasions. Also, did you tell your dealer to look around to swap for another anthracite 6 speed?....they tried to pull this bs with me when i got my car back in march and i fliped on them and told them to find me one im not waiting.

acura CL-S voted about BMW 330ci?? haha, no way, not in any mag, BMW pays all the mags off, you wont see it, even though its obviously a better value, you wont ever see the CL-S rated above the 330ci...the magazines are to busy sucking the cocks of BMW to actually get their heads out of their ass and vote properly for a deserving car.

I'm sure I've seen it....

I absolutly sure that the Acura CL/TL type-S was number one on the Edmunds test. I belive it was the 2000-1 test? I can't find the thing for the life of me! As far as BMW goes, yes they are nice, but nothing special. I just test drove the 330ci before I decided on my CLS. The BMW is not as fast as I thought, it's tiny, and you get no fun toys for the 38k that your paying. It handles nice, but how often are you truly ripping turns so fast that a CLS could not keep up? With the long throw shifter and very long clutch it takes away from the 330. Besides the image, I'm not a fan.

I hope someone can find that comparison test where the CL/TL Type-S came in at number one.

way back, AMCI voted the CLS #1 in tests against the 328Ci (w/ auto and sport pkg), CLK320, and C70...those tests were 0-60, 1/4 mile, 40 - 70 passing, and top speed

Actually, I think it was Car and Driver that gave it a huge boost when reviewing the new CL-S 6 speed. They commented that you would not know that you were driving a FWD car unless you looked because of the new LSD 6 speed.

Motor Trend (I think) did a review of the 2001 CLS and a 328Ci and gave the nod to the CL...Acura sent me the article when I was still looking around at other cars...ask your dealer, they may still have one lying around

Yes, the CL-S 6-speed finished only one point behind the 330i coupe in that test. They said the CL-S was the best-handling front-driver they'd ever tested.

They went on to claim that they thought that the BMW was worth the extra $7,000 or so, even though their overall scores were only a point apart. Hmm. Sorry, but throw value (especially lease payments!) into the equation and there's no comparison!

Plus, I LOVE how the CL-S sounds.....:P

TL-s was rated #1 by 2002 Edmunds Entry Level Luxury Sport Sedans Comparison Test. Beat the 330i and is300 due to its value. All testers agreed that the 330 and is300 were better cars though.

I think I still have that magazine let me go look.... Found it, July 2000 issue.

"Going by the numbers the surprising 3.2 CL Type S edges out the 328Ci in both performance and sticker price."

"The 3.2 CL Type S provides a real dollar advantage. It's the clear winner here."

According to Edmunds the CL-S is dead last when comparing the 330, Volvo C70 and MB 430. Every single car excluding the CL cost more than 40 K and the MB over 50K. They said it wasn't luxuries enough for somebody in that market that can afford these coupes. I mean come on if I could afford a MB 430 without a sweat I wouldn't look at an Acura no matter how cheap it is.

The Volvo C70 is not as good as the CL-S and costs $10,000 more. The Turbo is so abrupt it's dangerous. It not as smooth or as quiet. Drive these other cars before you criticize the Acura, you will be shocked at how good the CL-S is!!

Ancient History!!! The C70 Coupe is dead ... Volvo decided after its 5 year run not to revise it ... no facelift, no performance boost, nada. The convertible will remain, but the coupe is gone --- allegedly to be replaced by a coupe version of the S60 somewhere down the road ((according to Road & Track)). And more important than the $10K outright cost factor, look at resale! Compare the C70 with its (then) competitors - the CLK 320 and the BMW M3. Will all else being equal, the CLK holds it's value better than the M3 (albeit marginally), but the same model year C70 driven the same amount of miles is worth just over 1/2 of what the M3 is worth ((according to Kelly's and NADA)). Biggest problem with the C70 when it was first introduced was the Volvo's dealer mark-ups ... $5K and up over MSRP just to get your hands on the '98 when it was first introduced (same thing some unscrupulous Infinity/Nissan dealers are currently doing with the G35C/350Z). Was a nice vehicle, and a good attempt by Volvo to fill the void left when the 2 door 242GT cum GT cum TURBO was discontinued in the early 80's, but I really don't believe VOLVO knew how (and to who) to market it.
