CLS: Car in D5, no gas applied and...

The car just move forward at very low speed on a flat surface. If this the normal or Should I get it back to the Dealer?!!

The only thing at a stop light that keeps the car from moving forward is by keeping my foot on the brake pedal. I am used to it now buts still annoying. Does not matter if the car is cold or warm.

Thanks.

"stoplight creep" is normal on an auto tranny car. I think it's caused by parasitic drag in the torque converter.

in addition, if the car starts idling too high (or if the a/c compressor cycles off) the car my feel like it wants to surge forward even with the brakes on.

Most of the cars I've owned have been manuals, but every auto I have ever owned or driven does this.

If you want to ruin your reputation at the Acura dealership, take it back and complain about [that].

I guarantee the guys there will talk about you, laughing for a week straight no doubt!

Now that you mention it, mine does that too.
I have never owned another car that did this.

Oh wait……they were all STICK SHIFT.

Thanks for telling me that I am acting like an idiot ... but that is a lot of pull on stop. I feel I can ascend hills with just doing nothing... I guess that those 260 horses are bit agitated and need to get lose

Clearlt the car is bored with the way you are driving it and wants to get going!

You should try my old Mercedes ('79) - I have to stand on the brake to stop the thing at a stop sign - course it does need a new idle regulator and is idled way up - what a load!

I used to have an old Ford Maverick back in High School (in 1984) with a carburetor that was shot.
It wouldn’t idle worth a damn and I couldn’t afford to fix it.

My temporary solution was to crank the fast idle way up so it would idle without stalling.
The consequences of this were that it would run up to about 20MPH without my foot on the gas pedal.
With only (4) drum brakes holding it back it sure made for some interesting driving.

I had a '72 Mav that required a new carb each year - cost about $100. I installed a manual choke - from a lawn mower one year to start the thing! LMAO!

The reason why automatic creeps along when we leave it in "Drive" is due to the fact that the clutch is engaged already, thus the term automatic transmission. Try leaving it in neutral...no creeping eh?

Uhm... a 120 hp Civic DX will 'creep' at idle. So will a 500 hp Bentley.

I have a very similar problem too. I noticed that when I turn the steering wheel, the car wants to move in that direction. Is this normal? I'm really scared to drive the car now with all of these 'creeping forward' stories...

Now another angle to this issue...

As much as I drive like a grannma' the car feels very slow and boring... Change the mood a bit and zip through stop signs, cornering fast and wooahhh the car feels pissed off!!

It just "learns" that I need to kick it butt and get it going Ohhh! I would be given some hard time to that PCM .....

Of course, kid do not do this at home!

Note: twice I got warnings, a warning to cut off a patrol car after taking off on an stop sign, and once for descending a hill a bit fast

by the way, you guys made headlines at Offtopic

http://home.fazle.com/ot/noncgi/Forum1/HTML/000054.html

check that link out, their laughing at us..

no good punks.

Nashua_Night_Hawk dont feel bad, you can always cover up smoothly by saying you are only used to driving exotic cars that only come in manual.

anyways those o/t people have no lives, dont listen to anything they say there, its just a bunch of people that like to BS about how many girls they did what with, and stupid things they talk about. only a few cool members. like CLpower..and maybe typeSkid, and more i cant remember, but only a few more.
