Climate control question

I asked this in the First Gen forum but I don't know if the 1st and 2nd gen work the same way so can someone tell me how the water valve on the heater hose works on the 2nd gen? That's the valve that control how much coolant/water goes in the heater unit, it's located behind the engine it's 2 hoses that goes into the firewall. Can someone tell me how it's activated? Is it cable or vacuum activated?

I can't say for sure on this car, but on my old Thunderdird it was activated as well as regulated by a thermostat. Exactly in the same way the other thermostat controls radiator flow.
