Arrow Cleaning Exhaust Tips

What's the best way to bring the chrome back to life? I've used some cleaners to no avail. Thanks J

I've used Mother's chrome polish and that seems to do the trick even they are fairly dull. But I think I read somewhere that the tips are made of aluminum. Could be wrong on that though.

Just try this stuff if you haven't. How bad are they?

The chrome polish will work fine on aluminum. Chrome is much harder so the polish is a little more aggressive but it won't hurt anything. It just means less work on your part.

I have a bottle of mothers chrome polish, works great. As a matter of fact, when i first got it, my friend happend to come over after i washed my car and was like "dude, did you get an exhaust" i said "nope, just cleaned em ". Lol, it was the first time i used it and there was really more grime than i thought on my tips, the soap for washing cars just doesn't cut it.a

Garkon:

Thanks dude, while we're on the subject what about the exhaust right behind the pipes, see how it's black *(mostly) well mine is chipping what can I use to make this look new again? I tried spraying one spot w/ some matte black spray paint, but it's really hard to get the paint in there, even after masking everything. Did anyone else have this problem and fix it?

^ Looks like your description fooled the lot of us I guess.

I don't know. I guess scrub them with wire brushes and acid or abrasive of your choice.

Yeah, that description was a little off, got the point across though...

Hmm, if you cant manage to get the spray paint on there after cleaning it up, i'd say get a brush and some paint, and paint it that way. It's just black on your muffler, cant mess it up too much i'd say.

If your painting the exhaust, pipes or mufflers, you might want to look into high temp paint. The exhaust gets pretty hot and im sure you dont want it do it again in the future.

Hi Garkon you were at the meet in stockton back in april right?

Ok...

So I guess Im goin' to try the brush method with some matte black high temp paint. (I think it's going to be hard to get this paint in a jar, might just have to spray some in a container and brush it on from them.

Then after that's looking right, I'm going to use one of the above mentioned products and hopefully my tips will be lookin' like new again.

Thanks for the help.

J
