the CL is quieter....but not by as much as you would probably hope for....and the CL rattles on and off in a few different locations, dealers constantly have to fix many of our CL-S for rattles...it definately handles a bit better than a stock accord...and its a whole HELLUVALOT faster!!!! supercharged V6 accords have a hard time keeping up with stock CL-S...

I disagree with Jim, because I happen to have both cars (I'm talking about the 6th gen V6EX Accord Coupe). They are NOT the same ! By far the Acura is a better car, quite, handles great (you can impove with a simple mod called sway bars and summer tires) once you do that, the cars don't compare. Acura is much faster, in fact my friend drove my accord last night and he could keep up with me.
Accord: noisey on ruff pavement, not as fast, not a nice in the interior as the CL or CLS. I've compared the cars inch by inch.
GET THE CLS......period, why because eveyone and theIR grandmother will have and do have an ACCORD..........................

Yes there are rattles in BOTH, big deal......................

Accord EX V6 - top of the line econocar
Acura CL-S - luxury or near-luxury market sport coupe

Which do you want?

The only similarities between the 2 cars ( i know cuz i had a 99 ex v6 coupe) is some of the interior stuff they have used from the parts bin....Other then that..the type S is a whole different animal!

Well I traded in my '00 Coupe EX-V6 for an '03 CL-S three weeks ago and here is what I notice:

1. Handling: Acura, no doubt. Even though the hoodline locks very similar from the driver's seat, it feels like a different car. Much tighter.

2. Body: Similar. I like the Acura's front end - especially the HID lights. What a difference! The rear lights on the coupe were unique. The Acura's are more sedate. I think I'd give the Accord the nod here for rear lighting - but it is close.

3. Trunk: Accord without a doubt. Both seats fold down.

4. Interior: Acura by a mile. Better leather, auto-stick, in-dash cd changer (standard on the '01 Accords), dual power outlets (radar detector and phone), gauges, auto-dim rearview mirror. Accord's best point is that both rear seats folded.

5. Engine: 60 ponies. 'Nuff said. Smoother application of power.

All that being said, I wish I had bought my CL-S sooner.

(If anyone wants a cherry Accord coupe in Chicago, the dealer has mine advertised on their website. I only used Mobil 1 from the initial oil change on. Someone did remove the chrome tips. I'd assume the trunk tray is gone, too.)

Are you considering a 03 Accord EX V6 coupe and 03 Acura 3.2CL? I think they are pretty close, so it's up to your taste.

It's definitely a matter of what you prefer. People say the CLS styling is kinda bland, if so, then I like bland

If it's a choice between a 03 EX V6 6spd and a CLS 6spd, then they are really close. With the Accord V6 6spd being rumored to be offered in limited numbers, the price difference won't be much either (MSRP + markup?? on a 6psd accord??).

That being said, if the price difference is close, then the CLS wind hands down. It's a great car for the money, and like Fabvsix said, everyone and their uncle won't be driving one.

Mother-in-law bought an '01 Accord EX-V6 coupe a few weeks after I got my '01 CLS. I was surprised by the number of similarities inside if not exactly the same interior bits (locks, windows, roof, CD, seat heaters, hvac, etc). I've grudgingly come the "so what" conclusion because it helped Acura save money so they could up the performance equation a few notches. Give me 260hp over 200 anyday! Even so, she paid $20K for hers with 13K miles and I paid $21K w/21K miles.

By comparison, when I was shopping for my last car I compared a '94 Max to '91 Q45 and they also shared quite a few interior components. In that case, it seemed odd the top car would share so many bits and pieces ... unless, of course, the Max got the hand-me down components after the Q was down. Probably not, come to think of it, since that gen Max debuted in '90 or '91. Oh well, the same could be probably be said with your Neon and S-class.
