Ah man, I wanted to see where this kid was from. It said Towne Lake in his location but there is no Towne Lake city in Georgia. I live in an area called Towne Lake (Towne Lake Hills East to be specific) which is in Woodstock, GA. I wonder if he was local as the only CL-P's I have seen are driven by middle aged ladies. :o

Now concenring the main topic, A CL-S6 would lose off the line. But it may not be as bas as many would think. The EVO loses noticeably more power through the AWD system which limits its at speed ability. Still, stock for stock, the EVO would pull on the CL-S6 even at the higher velocities.

There's a post over at v6p.net that a 6spd stock took one that had 3 guys but with i/e. Mind you this was off a 3rd gear roll. Not sure if it's true though. He says he took a G35 6spd off a roll too.

I guess I should put my in here since I have one of each at present. My Evo is pure stock, my CL-S6 is not. I will admit that I do not know how to drive too well from a dead stop, in a straight line. My reaction time is probably equal to most of your 60s (I presume that means your time at 60', correct?) Anyway, I don't race, and I don't practice launching the car often. I have figured out, however, that launching the Evo well requires some skill and practice, and from a rolling start it is quite slow to 60 mph.

If you asked me to bring one of my cars to a dragstrip to race I would bring my S/C CL-S6 because I am conviced that I could drive this one faster down the track than I could the Evo. I've gotten pretty good at modulating the throttle on the CL to minimize wheelspin and my gut feeling is that it is quicker than my Evo (with me driving anyway). I think that the true wheel horsepower to weight ratio is a good bit lower (lbs/hp) in the supercharged CL (around 11.5) than in the stock Evo (I suspect around 14 - if you factor in loosing 20% through the drivechain) and that the limiting factor with the CL is traction (not a problem with the Evo).

I am not defending the original poster here, because it does sound as if he needs some education in power to weight ratios, and I am not saying that a supercharged CL = a NA CL (not by a long shot), but I am very impressed with the acceleration of the CL with the blower.

Personally, I don't think that either of these cars was designed to go fast in a straight line. They are each designed for very different purposes and very different tastes actually.

Now, If anyone asked me to come to a real track - where the real fun begins and you actually use the steering wheel and the brakes, and actually downshift, heel and toe, and the like...One with turns, hills, etc. and come race someone...I would be a FOOL to leave the Evo at home in the garage!

reviews of the evo say 0-60 (from a stop) is 4.8

you are saying your s/c cls6 is faster than that??

Evo launch! Eazy for me, Just rev the rpm to 6000 rpm and pop the clutch. you will be impress with the launch, but you will kill the clutch. I have to do that to my 92 All Trac Turbo Celica, if I don't I will get beat of the line. If my clutch fully engaged with the rpm below 3200, I will be in the turbo lag world. That is one reason I am not impress with 4WD, 4 cylinder turbocharge car. It is just not a very good daily driver(stop and go). Audi RS6 or any V8 AWD cars are different because they have tons of torque at low rpm.

I think he is saying that for him the CL-S6SC is. He probably does not want to launch at 6k revs. If not and launches lightly the CL-S6SC may have an advantage.

I do not like to smell a clutch burning, something tells me that it is not very good for the clutch, and perhaps not for the drivetrain either. The couple of times that I dropped the clutch from about 5k, the tires grabbed, but the clutch didn't. It's the only new car I''ve ever owned that would burn the clutch before breaking the tires loose.

I have never timed my CL-S6SC from 0-60, but It would not surprise me if it gets there in 5 seconds or perhaps less. It feels that fast! I do know that it certainly feels as quick as my Evo and the TT Rx7s that I had, and quicker than the 350Z, S2000, and Boxster (non-S) that I have owned.

I don't think that I personally could do better in the Evo. I'm just not that good. Of course it is also not what I bought it for either. I bought it purely for the fun factor and the G-forces in all directions!

What I want to know is, why did they make evo look like it is riding on 10" wheels? Not a big Mitsu fan, but might have considered it because of its prowess and price instead of my 6-speed if it didn't look like a matchbox car with skateboard wheels.

It's a start!

Actually I love cars, and I've never been bored a day in my life - especially with regard to cars. I guess that you could say that I am just never quite satisfied. If I had my way about it, I would have kept every one of those cars. I'd have as many cars as Jay Leno!

The problem is that I AM a doctor, and even more of a problem is that I am a pediatrician. We don't make enough money to own more than one or two nice cars at a time. If you want to be a doctor so that you can own a lot of nice cars, don't be a pediatrician! Be an Orthopaedist, Ophthalmologist, or maybe even a general surgeon.

Anyway, which ever you choose, you have the first requirement down (keep that horrible penmanship - otherwise, someone might find out the truth of the matter - that you can't spell)!

You are right about the Evo looking like a matchbox car. I got a silver one because I thought that it looked the best color of the lot (not quite as plastic looking). I haven't really noticed the "skate board" wheels. They are 17X8 with 235/40s I believe. Everytime my eyes try to look at the rims, they are distracted by those big fat red Brembos behind them!

Sorry about the hijacking - I guess this question is directed at me. How did we get from Comparing an Evo and a CL-S6 to How much docs make. I guess that's my fault. Anyway, I'll answer this then I'll be quiet!

I guess it all depends on what you call serious loot. Yes ER docs do pretty well, but part time docs get part time pay. As with most jobs, the more you work, the more you make. I think that ER docs typically get paid by the hour. In rural Alabama it's probably not what you can make in the big cities. Don't hold me to it because I'm speculating here (for ballpark purposes) I would guess it's about 4 times what you can make driving a UPS truck. Now you can do the math. I Don't know if that's worth going through all those years of extra school/ training/ etc. If you're just in it for the money - probably not. There are rewards much greater than monetary ones in my profession - fortunately!

Yeah I work with the Birmingham area in the mortgage business and I notice that the salaries don't compare to bigger cities like Miami.

^^ Well C/D didnt drive the cl well and got 0-60 in 5.7 and the 1/4 in 14.2, but if driven well i would have to say a 0-60 in 5-5.2 and the 1/4 in 13.2 to 13.5?
