CL-S vs Sportbike Gang

CL-S vs Sportbike Gang
Coming back from Atlanta on I-20 West, I run into a pack of 600cc bikes. Looked like a Yamaha R6, Honda CBR600, a Kawasaki ZX-6 and a few other larger-looking sport bikes. For a few miles we haphazardly zip around each other--They shoot past me for a minute, slow down for traffic, and when traffic clears I shoot forward for a minute. Neither one of us really hitting it hard--yet.
Now mind you, I used to be an avid biker myself having owned a Honda Nighthawk back in the day, so I'm extra careful not to be too aggressive around these guys. As we're snaking through traffic I peeped a long stretch of clear highway up ahead and shift down to second for a peak launch.
I'm thinking these guys don't really know who they're fuckin' with, so I launch on the guy riding the Kawasaki with his girlfriend on the back. I pull about 5 car lengths ahead of him before he decided to downshift and catch up. He's reeling me in so I slow down a little to let him catch up. Dude zips past me so I follow him to see how fast he'll push it. Around 90mph his girlfriend begins to lose her grip--pealing off the back of the bike, so he has to slow down. I zipped past him up to 110mph and slowed down.
His other biker friends decide to join in--I'm hearing the others downshift and gun it as their racing pipes start howling out. As they're catching up I slow down just enough to get back in the peak range of 2nd gear, sport shift down and make another perfect launch. Just as they come within 3 car lengths of me I peak at the top of 2nd gear, tapping the RPM limiter, forcing the engine to stutter once before a split-second upshift to 3rd.
I slowly begin pulling away--four car lengths, six car lengths, 10 car lengths. The powerband begins leveling out around 134 and the sportbikes are slowly pulling back on me. They couldn't get any closer than 5 car lengths before we all had to shut down as we came up on traffic.

I sporadically hit Atlanta from time to time. I got some guy here on Acurazine wanting to take me on in Florida down the I-95 stretch.
I had a guy that ran pretty good on me in West Palm Beach. He was driving a silver 02' TL-S. The car was heavily modded, though. Dropped, had huge chrome cat back exhausts, etc. It pulled too hard to be stock.

May 7-9 we're having a meet near the Dragon (the Dragon itself was closed due to a rock slide but recently reopened with more cops). If you have the time, you should check it out.

As I've always said, I'm stock, CL-S, and ss mode. Always have always will be with my Acura, particularly, since I've just ripped through three trannies and I'm being very nice to this third tray.
My gear shifting days are over. I need hands free for conducting business on my cell, navigating GPS and eating on my lunch break while going to different job sites.
I'll be buying a lifted and loaded Jeep Wrangler next year. That's where all my modding energies will be spent. The Acura will stay stock until the end of time.

There is a so much BS claims on here as to what people have beat with thier CLS's. No saying any names (Cough victoru cough) and many more.
Like I said before, all these outrages claims, yet not one single video, not one !!!

Either you can't read at all or you can barely read but have the comprehension skills of a 2nd grader or you're more interested in thinking you can find somebody to flame rather than comprehend the street encounter you just read.

I understand it was an encounter but your last paragraph makes it sound like you were pulling away from the bikes as if your car is faster then they are, when it ain't so. They let you pull away. Which was the smarter thing to do.

What bothers me is there are people here that claim thier 240 ish hp cars are faster than 400+ cars. Then claim they do it all the time. Ok! Let see some video proof of a stock or any NA CLS beating a 6.0 GTO or SRT-8 or even a SRT-4.

You will never see a post of mine claiming to beat obviously more powerful cars. I've made posts where I've been murdered by faster cars. There is nothing even a fully modded CL-S can do against a 600cc sportbike with a top speed of approx. 156mph.
My car is completely stock. Never has been and never will be modded. If I had faced those sportbikes in a flat out, even race they would have smoked me into oblivion. I had an edge on them because:
#1: It's extremely rare for people to be eager to go over 80mph in Alabama and they weren't ready.
#2: They underestimated my reaction time and my car's abilities.
#3: They waited too late to downshift and allowed too much space to get between me and them before coming up on traffic, which slowed all of us down.
A 600cc sportbike is fast but you ain't going to effortlessly catch up to or pull away from a CL-S that's already under power and several car lengths ahead if you're sitting there in 6th gear cruising along.
They clearly underestimated my car and had to downshift to 4th to catch up. They would have clearly blown passed me if they had downshifted earlier and if there wasn't traffic a couple miles ahead.

x2. Unless their seriously modded, an SRT-4 aint fast.

^ I agree. I beat one in my 05 TL with no mods. However, on my road trip last week, I come up on one in Missouri & we both punch it. I leave him like 5 to 7 car lengths behind, I glance up & he's suddenly gaining, I stayed on it & glanced down after he passed me...I was doing 125 & he passed me pretty aggressively...my guess is NOS.

I've hurt a few sport bikers' feelings. They try to race me in 6th gear and I'm already in 3rd gear cruising at 70mph with my powerband's peak range (80 to 120mph) and they end up looking stupid. I've had some that didn't have the nerve to keep up in the 120's, not because I'm "faster" but because they weren't experienced enough with their sportbike to feel comfortable pushing beyond 120mph. I've had some that were so arrogant they thought they could let me get nearly a half a mile ahead of em' and think they could just reel me in. Didn't work.
Then again I've had some that knew the deal, downshifted in a hurry and smoked me--even then not by as many car lengths as they thought they could. Then I've had some blow by me when I'm doing 90mph and they're already at 145mph and above. They're pushin' heavily modded zx-11 and other alien-looking bikes with 5 foot-long swingarms and 50 inch wide rear rubber and sound like a NASA test rocket when they downshift to 3rd gear at 70mph. I don't even mess with those dudes.

No I can read, WTF is that, of course, you'll find explanation for that. These bikes can take you even with 10 length head start.
I slowly begin pulling away--four car lengths, six car lengths, 10 car lengths. The powerband begins leveling out around 134 and the sportbikes are slowly pulling back on me. They couldn't get any closer than 5 car lengths before we all had to shut down as we came up on traffic.

Now try to focus--If I was only running with the dude riding the Kawasaki in the 90mph range while, and here's the common sense part that you're not comprehending, the REST of the bikes were still cruising around 70mph, do you think a group of sportbikes traveling at 70mph would still be anywhere near the two vehicles that had already been traveling at 90mph for several minutes?
Now here's the key dilemma you have to figure out: Tell me how a group of 600cc sportbikes that were nearly 2 miles behind two vehicles that had already been traveling approximately 90mph (myself hitting 110mph) not only overcome a 2 mile gap but also catch up to and pass a vehicle that is already accelerating towards 134mph and not slam into oncoming traffic that's only a mile up ahead?
The key points I've presented to you are nothing new. They're points that were already there for you to comprehend from the original street encounter. The most important point laying in the 4th paragraph of the original encounter post:
His biker friends decided to join in
Key points that you purposefully chose to ignore because you (A) failed to comprehend the elapsed time, rate of speed, and distance two vehicles have traveled before another group of vehicles decided to become involved, and (B) failed to understand that the other bikes decided to join in after I already had a run with the guy on the Kawasaki.
That's what you have to comprehend in order to understand how the street encounter transpired.
