CL-S vs. Maxima GXE

from a stoplight to 80, i put about two and a half carlengths on one of these. i didn't really expect it but, it seemed like i instantly pulled on him. what do you guys make of this? i think he layed off as soon as i started pulling. aren't these supposed to pull on us down low due to their superior torque?

and it was this same model and color(it had HIDS too).

nope. this doesn't go into the equation being that there wasn't one chirp emitted fomr either of the FWD cars.

btw, i have CT IB w/K&N filter, headers and TB spacers for power mods and CT springs and Tokico Illuminas for handling.

F23A4. your take please.

With the mods you have that makes sense only if he was a 4AT. The 6spd would put up a fight if not pull on you.

nope. it's a wannabe aluminum. i meant to pick the brushed aluminum one. i don't think a black dash kit would look too great in a black interior.

first off, what car do you have? the fake black wood/marble crap that is in my CL looks okay with the kit i have. but then here's a picture of a 2003 CL with the normal aluminum trim that comes stock along with the aforementioned fake black stuff as a kit.

i don't know if this is what you are asking about or not.

You definitely raced the rarest (albeit base) of the 5.5G Maxima. But it is probably the quickest iteration of the 4AT 5.5G Maxima seeing as it weighs the lease.

That said, it sounds like he just bogged down @ launch. Even with your mods, I cannot imagine giving up 2.5 CLs to the CL-S 0-80mph unless I broke traction (rare for me nowadays); although I am sure your 6MT would start to pull on my 4AT beyond 80mph.

Sidenote: The 5AT did not appear in the Maxima until the 6G (2004-2006 Maxima), which was replaced (along with the 6MT) by the CVT in the 2007 model.

the thing is that neither car chirped or lost traction on the launch. and i don't have a 6 spd.

F23, its more like 40mph (2nd gear) that the CL-S6 will really start to pull on a 5.5G 4AT Maxima. The max can even get a couple feet, but once the CL-S6 has traction it will pull away like a freight train. This is of course assuming equal driver skill, and 100% stock cars.

The max traps at about 93mph, whereas the cl-s would be about 97mph, thats a pretty big gap esp in the 1/4. A hiway race is even worse outcome for the max.

I am not familiar with the gearing on the CLS-6 but I did run against a Maxima 6MT at the track where he posted a 96.XX ET versus my 93.XX. With close launches, he started his walk around the 1/8 mile mark with a 1.5CL through the 1/4 mile traps.

The pic posted above fooled me. As stock times between both cars are remarkably close, your mods seemed to have played a major role in your win. An ideal (more comparable) race would be if you faced off against a 5.5G Maxima with Cattman headers, B-pipe and Frankencar intake. (There are a few on the Org with similar setups.) Do not quote me but I think 03Sheermax has similar mods.

What are your 1/4 mile times?

i have yet to track her. i would've done it by now if there were a 1/4 mile track. here in SD we have a 1/8th mile track adjacent to the Qualcomm stadium parking and expect us to be content with that.

Joe. i just have CT IB, CT headers and Thermobloks under the hood. then CT springs and Tokico Illumina adjustables. not much.

We can always calc out your 1/4 mile time based on whatever you post in the 1/8 mile. Take it for a run and see what you post.
