if...
his car is new new, run him for sure. Laugh at the idea of his poor brand new engine trying to run up to redline... he won't be making peak horsepower yet, since he hasn't broken in his car.

aiight, I beat CL-S with AEM Intakes (no offense) and I've got a buddy who has a 2002 330 CI 5-spd manual with 2500 miles. This kid only has a K&N Cone filter and I raced him. From 0 to 60 I'm with him, and this is where I pull from CL-S' (Juker008 can vouch for me on this one) and this is where my buddy starts to pull a little, and by 100 he has a good car on me. So, good luck bro, just prey it isn't broken in and that the kid can't shift. They have to run past redline, like 6500 RPM to get full power, to give him more of an advantage tell him to turn off the DSC and brake control, so hold it down for 5 seconds, that'll help him out

Tough call. BMW's don't have to be broken in. They come broken in unlike most cars. Very evenly matched cars, so I'd say it's all up to the driver.

If his car is not broken in, don't let him run it hard, it may generate a tad too much heat for the new parts, they tell you not to do that for a reason(IMHO). That is if you are his friend...

I raced my buddy's 330Ci 5mt and I LOST.
He's an extremely good driver, and used the RWD to pull on me right off the line. We took it up to 80mph and he had me by just about a car length. I was gaining in the higher MPH range, but it was very slow.
Good luck. I'd only bet 20 bucks if I were you. Especially if he can drive.

the spare difference will really be minimal if on a roll, but will probably help if doing a 0 -> whatever run. Less weight to drag along, whatever you can take out and still look stock do so.

It's an auto. CL-S versus a manual 330Ci. The edge goes to the Bimmer. Sorry...

i third that notion.
a stock auto CL-S versus a stock manual 330Ci. The edge goes to the Bimmer. not by much but the bimmer still wins throw some headers on the Cl i think the cl would win. i raced one christmas eve made it to his door. the only way your going to win is if he can't drive and there are people out there that can't race.

Eh ... I've owned a CL-S Auto (stock) and had the pleasure of driving a 330i (not coupe, but sedan) for a week. IMHO, the 330i is the faster car, especially at 90+ 100+ mph. That thing just freaking pulls all the way to it's top speed. Now .. the CL-S, while a good car, IMHO is just not designed to accelerate that fast? my CL-S feels like as if it's hit a wall once it reaches 100mph. After that, maybe 100->110 is fine, but 110->120 seems to take forever.
I would race him. It's too close of a call. I only race if I have complete confidence.
Whatever you decide, best of luck!

Perfect stick drivers will definitely beat the Type S more often..
I lost to a 330Ci convertible by 1 carlength to 90 mph in the dead heat of summer (85degr) two summers ago when i had 3000 miles on the Type S. I also got a late rxn .. but whatever, I lost, I'm not whining. I also forgot to use tree shifting which I swear lets me get another few hundred rpms in 1st... though I don't know how much it helps...
