CL-S Valvetrain clatter.....

My CL-S has had a pretty audible valvetrain clatter at idle for some time now. It's got 21k on it and I'm running Mobil 1 5W-30 oil. What weight oil would you recommend to reduce the noise? Thanks.

No, I haven't. It became more noticeable when I switched to M1 a couple changes ago, so I'm assuming it's the oil......maybe I'm wrong.

i use mobil one as well. i don't think it should cause more valvetrain noise.

since you are under warranty there's no reason not to let the dealer check it out.

Dealer should adjust the vales under warranty. Several 6 speeds have had this done recently. Seems to be a 6 speed trate for some reason. I had mine done at 18K miles.

What is the cost of a valce adjustment? I am going in for my last service while under warranty today and I am sure they wouldn't want to do this for free.

Can someone explain what the noise is supposed to sound like? I might have this problem, but not exactly sure....

tapping noise in your engine and it sounds like there is chatter.

I worry because my engine used to bog hard before i had the timing belt replaced. Bad timiing belt could easily f with the valves
