CL-S v. Cougar S

CL-S v. Cougar S

Everybody is developing an S version of each car.
Once again, ignoring the build quality of Ford, we all know it is lesser (but not 100% crap) than Honda.
How would the Cougar S fare against a CL-S, or CL-P for that matter? It is $10,000 less. It seems like it has enough power to give it a run, and isn't that heavy. Looks like a good deal for someone just getting out of college. Wait a min... I just got out of college...

Why don't you run against any of these cars you keep asking about?

Anyways, I think that once the CL (either one take your pick) hits VTEC range, the race will be over. The CL (either one again) will win over the Cougar S.

Now go out there and beat the hell out of something already. sheeeeesh!

the weight for that thing is around 3200ib..

and 170hp v6..not slow but not a chance against the cl-s..maybe a gsr...

as I understand it, the oft rumored but never seen cougar s is supposed to come with a 200hp version of the standard cougar v6. that change might improve its chances considerably in this area.

still, I'm not sure the svt contour is really capable of running with the type s in an out and out drag race, so I don't really expect the cougar s to fare any better.

In SCC magazine Feb 01 issue they have 1999 cougar vortech supercharger 212hp it can only do 7.0 second and 15.1 1/4 mile. CL-S is the winner= 6.4 sec 14.8 1/4 mile

wHY ARE u comparing our rides to a POS like that?
U know dam well that anything that cost 5 K more then the CL cant compete, what do u thing a american POS that cost 10 K less will give us a run...I DUNNO

Well, I don't run against these cars because I don't want to get killed. Also there is a time of the year called Winter, where we get this stuff called "snow." This "snow" hinders one's ability to control one's car at high speeds.
Isn't this forum about asking questions? I don't think the Cougar is a POS... Even though it is a Ford.

According to blueovalnews.com (a Ford web site) the Cougar S program has been cancelled.
