CL-S Throttle "hesitation"

My car runs great, and I have no problems with it. I have driven 2 other CL-S's that seem to do the same thing, so I guess it's a factory setting.

When you are cruising and step on the gas hard to pass or just get on it, there is a slight pause before the motor will really pick up and start the car hauling ass. I am guessing this is a safety feature for the trans or somthing?

Is there a way around it, like with a tuner or somthing? Anyone here know what I am talking about?

Sound like normal Auto trans TQ converter lockup. The TQ converted locks into position when cruising for better fuel economy. When you mass the gas the TQ converter has to unlock to downshift. This causes a slight lag.

All Auto's do this. Also why I hate auto's.

Some car makers have tuners that can change it & shift points as well. But nothing is made for the Acura.

i wouldn't say it's only the torque converter.. i would simply put it as the car downshifting.. although you may be right, it seems he's going WOT at speed which would be an unlock and then a downshift (1-2 sec delay)

that's cause you're running below when the motor makes decent torque

Perfect explanation. I've actually been wondering about this for the past couple of weeks. Not even WOT, but pushing down on the gas past a certain point in 3rd 4th or 5th gear while either SS mode or reg auto causes it to "jump" and suddenly accelerate quicker, usually between 2K and 3K RPM. (While pushing the gas enough to accelerate but not downshift)

Yeah, that's pretty much what I thought. It is an auto (obviously), and fuzzy's explanation is dead on with what I was thinking. Off the line the car just hauls ass, it's only when cruising at a certain speed.

This is the first auto I've had in years (other than my Lightning, and it was a different animal), all my other cars lately (not including the wife's V6 Fusion SEL, also a fun car) have been 400 rwhp+ manuals......obvisouly not daily drivers, haha.

Thanks guys. I was hoping there would be a tuner solution for this, but that's allright. I didn't buy this car to modify anyway.
