the reason there so cheap is because, its not a cai, its a short ram, (less piping) also I heard someone having problems on this board using that foam filter and they eventually swapped it out for a K&N cone.
And numbers for all intakes are probably 1 ~2 hp diff. an intake is an intake. But from what I've heard AEM is the best CAI. but also heard good things about Xehphyers. actually anykind of intake should be better than our stock one.

Yup...it usually is for people that want the "show," since it's generally less expensive than a cold air intake...sounds nice though.

Hardly useless....a CAI, I admit, is better for the street. But at the track..it's the volume of air that matters. Short rams draw in hot air, but the temperature of the air doesn't make as much of a difference as you think. Temperature affects density of air..the more dense..the more air you cram into the throttle body per cubic inch. That is how the CAI makes more power than a short ram. But the ram also has a shorter distance to the throttle body..meaning more air via distance. Give me your ideas on it.

Also don't forget that the car is moving, drawing cooler air into the engine bay. So its not like you are getting hot stale air with the ram. Yes the air will be warmer with a ram. but oh well its a lot easier to install. also don't forget that the CAI piping is made of metal which sits in the engine bay sucking up all the heat as well transfering it to the air. yeah I know that not much heat transfer is taking place because of the speed of the air being sucked in. but if you guys really wanted a CAI you would be wrapping your piping tring to cut down all heat transfer.
When I had a short ram on the civic it gave me more low end HP and torque vs a CAI which was better for high end HP. So its just a prefence of what you prefer.

It is the same as mine...a Weapon-R Dragon Filter...and it dyno'd 7 hp at the wheel on a Prelude. So, commensurate with the displacement increase. It could add close to 10hp at the wheel on the CL-S. Remember, K&N claims 15hp increases on v8s like Mustangs and Camaros...purely due to displacement. By the way, all filter elements are similar, either they are K&N paper elements or they are the foam filters like HKS or AEM, furthermore, to educate you on flow..it's not so much which one is better, but rather your personal preference because both use a filter oil to keep dirt and, to some, extent water out of the engine.
