I was lookin at the CL-S gear ratios and started to wonder it is just an accord 4 speed with an extra gear snapped on. Which might also explain why there are some problems...to many gears in a tight space.
1st 2.563
2nd 1.551
3rd 1.021
4th 0.653
5th 0.470
4th and 5th are almost the same damn thing.
Is it the same as the Accord tranny? Has this been addressed before?

And as previously debunked before, that's BS because it's DESIGNED as a 5-speed, not a 4-speed with one more gear.
How convenient the memory is...
BTW - I think that thread was on the TL temp board.

I'd rather have a more usefull fourth gear and a fifth geared towards economy.
My point was it seemed to be that they jus screwed a minutely lower gear on the tranny without changin any of the other ratios to make the car perform any better than say a regular 4 speed.
What we basically have is a 4 speed with an extra 4th gear. It seems like marketing BS to me.
Two things. 1) If acura fugged up the fuel economy too much, you would have between 1-2k MORE on top of your price tag that would be non-negotiable. (see http://www.fueleconomy.gov/feg/info.shtml#guzzler )
2) 4th gear is an "in-town" overdrive so that their city gas mileage is according to (1). Note that in D5, 5th doesn't even engage until above 40-something.
So unless you want ANOTHER damned 2k on the car, quit bitchin about the 4th gear. You don't need it anyway except to race at stupid speeds.
