CL-P Vs. Prelude?

One of my friend has a 2000 Prelude 5spd with Cold Air, and I have a CL-P with CAI, and Pulleys..... He wanted to race and try to see how fast our cars are.... I wonder what you guys think.... I am sure a TypeS will outrun the Prelude, but what about a CLP? I read some status, they run pretty much around the same time..... What you guys think?

I am not sure. I would be interested in the results however. It should be close, unless he misses a shift. Just do it, or you'll never know. Post results please.

They should be close. Go try it safely and come back and tell us what did it go.

I've raced my friends prelude with my CLS
He had lots of mods...exhaust (loud loud loud), coilovers, intake, headers
Still....not a chance with my stock CLS
he admitted afterwards that he had difficulties chasing me!

I have also raced a modded 2000 Prelude and it was no contest.... and we both hit the fuel shutoff in 2nd! My CL-S beat him by over a car length.

i owned a 2000 prelude and 01 type s. type s will beat the prelude handdown. but for clp im not sure. cuz if i get a good launch with little wheel spin i can easily beat my friend's 99 maxima 5spd. it'd be interesting to hear the result.

Ok, I do know that CLS are way faster than Prelude, and I have a CL-P.....

So what is the best way to launch the car? With traction off? SS? Torque brake or what? What is the best way to launch the car good..... One thing I am sure is, that dude, is NOT a too good 5spd driver..... and I have the auto advantage..... so what will be the best way to launch the car?

Well considering the Prelude is only a 4 cylinder, it's a pretty fast car. The CL's on the other hand are fast cars as well. I wouldn't mind getting one cuz it's a nice sporty/luxury coupe, but for right now, I'm still into shifting and the sportier look. Anyways, my friend has the CL-P and everytime we race he takes me in the beggining and everytime I get into V-tec, I begin to slowly pull on him. I end up beating him by a carlength or 2 and I'm all stock. For the CL-S, it should beat a Prelude considering it has a V-6 260 HP, so it better beat the Lude. The differences between the cars.

Lude - 4 cylinder 195-200hp, 156 ft./lbs torque.
CL-P - V-6 225 hp, 216 ft./lbs torque
CL-S - V-6 260 hp, 232 ft./lbs torque

yes, a stock CL-P will beat a 2000 Prelude VTEC

your torque will absolutely rip the competition...

me and my friend raced many many times.. he has a 2000 model with AEM CAI, DC headers, and tanabe exhaust, with a recalibrated ECU.... still no competition. its a definite win about 1.5 car lengths ahead...and I even had a sub box, with a spare, and an extra passenger too!!

prelude's a great car though... and for a strange reason everytime i'm in his car, it FEELS faster though... i guess its cuz CL is luxury... dunno...
but yeah, don't feel threatened... you'll beat him!

A CL-P will do 0-60 in 7.1-6.8 sec stock.
A CL-S will do 0-60 in 6.6-6.4 sec stock.

which is a .4-.5 sec difference.

Won't your CL-P with a CAI and Pulleys make up that .4-.5 sec difference with a stock CL-S. I would think so, and then you should be able to beat any car the a stock CL-S can beat.

Come on people have some CL-P Pride!

No, the CAI and Pulleys will NOT make that much of a different.... We are talking about 35hps different..... CL with Cai and pulleys... it would be faster, but not that much..... I drove it with GTEC, which I dunno how accurate is it....

CLP stock 0-60 6.98
CLP with CAI and Pulley 6.71

Thats with traction off and SS.... different is 0.2 which i think is alot for those mod.

Not to say anything bad about your CL-P, but the Prelude is fast...not as fast as a CL-S, but plenty fast nonetheless. A Prelude runs the 1/4 as fast as an Integ GS-R. I don't think the CL-P is that fast. Now, the 1st gen VTEC prelude...that was something else...

I said it once and i'll say it again... yes, i defintiely agree... Prelude is one fast car!

but my bone stock CL-P vs my friend's prelude... we always race... he never wins, and he has plenty of mods too...

its definitely a good fight, but don't ever feel threatened by one...

So what is the best way to launch the car good? And also, SS or auto? TCS on or off.. etc?

this is such a sad topic for me. my last car was a prelude VTEC--the car f*ckin rocked!! i think it would be pretty close against a premium depending on the drivers, and the lude would def have to be a 5-speed to even think about keeping up.
i ran down a new lude the other day on the tollway while taking a couple friends to the airport -i reeled him in like it was nothin ( w/the typeESS ) ended up around 145mph!!! gotta try that again sometime and git some pix!! needless to say, my passengers were impressed-they have an audi 6 slomobile wagon (which i used to completely dust in my prelude-hehe)

So where do you get new pulleys and ECUs for the Type S? I've seen where to get CAIs and headers....
