Talking CL-P vs G35 Coupe

I kinda cracked up about this. Maybe you will too.

The Story:

While I was cruising down 512 East doing about 65, there was a white g35 coupe about 30 feet in front of me that wanted to get over...

...there was a truck ahead of me (in the same lane) with a dual trailer that was ahead of me and about 5-10 feet out more than the coupe was...

...he flipped his turn signal on to move over...then turned it off...he decided to turn it on again...then turned it off one more time. I flicked my high beams so he would move over, yet he didn't do it...

...so I was said "Fuck it," and moved up to him all the while he had another car in front of him...

...I think the flicker of the high beams thought I wanted to race...I didn't want to at first but I couldn't help the thought of what would become of it.

The truck in front of me sped up so I had a good clearing to move around the car that blocked the g35. Once I passed the g35 he got right up on my ass. When I had more room around the car he wanted to pass, it gets better.

I gate shifted down to D4 and hit the gas. I had a clearing for a good mile. Then put the pedal to the floor, during WOT it shifted down to 3rd and took off. I WOT the bitch and left the g35 behind leaving a good 3, maybe 4 car lengths. We took the exit to 167 north, it curves around in a C shape to the right and I gradually slowed down when I hit a buck fifteen and I let him pass me. And of course he gave me the :ghey: ricer flashing drive by. It was obvious who's car has more balls.

It was weird because I didn't feel like racing. Maybe the driver of the g35 will stop thinking he can beat a car that looks stock but has the sound of an import race car?

Just thought I'd share my lil Saturday night with you all.

Remember that my car is moderately/heavily modified as well.

yea no offense, but i just dont think they were on it...my good friend has a g35coupe and when i had intake and headers on my car he would still walk me a good 2 car lengths by 100 and anything over that he would just run away from me (his car is stock btw)

sometimes he would even let me jump on him and he would still chase me down and blow by me whomp whomp...

those cars have an insane powerband, so they are pretty much quick everywhere. its even worse from a dig for the CL

Even if the driver didn't know how to drive I still killed him...

I need a driver cam in my car on my dash so I can record this stuff.

The guy was on it. When his car passed me his engine was screaming.

EDIT: And isn't older G35coupes have about 298hp stock?

the older coupes actually have 280hp and 270tq, and the 05-up have 298hp, but 260tq...BUT they are still the same thing...

and i believe this, if that g35 was stock then im sure you beat him. you basically have a type-s, plus extra bolt-on's.

cltypeslow, i think you should have won that race with i/h..ive beaten a couple g35's, one with exhaust.

Nice kill. Too many think the G35 is untouchable but to me it's an overrated car. It's nice and beautifully engineered but it's beatable by a CL-S 6spd w/ bolt ons...

i still just find it hard to believe. i raced him many times on many different days all with the same outcome. im not convinced that being a type S with a couple bolt ons will do it. unless you are a 6spd. then you have a fighting chance. no way in an auto tho.

but he doesnt have type s heads, he has a lower compression, and his redline isnt as high as type s. believe what you want, new or old, the g should have beat him.

If the G was an auto I could see how you could pull on him pretty hard. My buddy has a G auto and from around 55- 65 MPH it dosent downshift very hard. From a dead stop it wouldnt have had the same outcome. One day i will beat him..... some how..... gonna cost alot of money....

The times aren't any different from the 280HP (03-04) to the 298HP versions (05+).

a 6 speed should run low 14s and an auto mid 14s. Doubtful you're running those times.

JBlue I haven't took my car to the drags yet...so I couldn't tell you what time it runs.

I'm just telling you guys what happened. It humored me, so I thought I'd share.

I raced a newer probably 03-04 350z in my 03 6mt, I had 2 people in my car, and I got wipped bad. I can drive stick and I was pretty much using vtech the whole time.. We were going about 60-65 and I gave the 350z everything the cls had.. We were both in 3rd gear I even got the better jump and even the 350z shifted before me into 4 gear and the 350z still walked on me. Face it, they are faster then the cls 6 speeds...YOur CLP auto, not a chance unless you gots some serious modding done to your car. Ive raced lots of cars in general and has match up the cls with many contenders..
If you really won, take it and remember it, cause its never going to happen again..

I do have a lot of serious mods done to it. Once I have all the parts in, It's going to get beefed up to a 3.5L

So, when the 3.5L conversion is done, will guys believe me a lil more?

Its when the person your racing wins and turns his hazard lights on...

N/A means naturally aspirated engine...meaning there is no turbo or supercharger is on the engine.

Means nothing if it was not off the line. Cars are different at moving speeds.

When I dynoed @ 207whp (about 275 crank hp) last October I had Intake/Headers/UniChip/UR crank pulley/and deleted mufflers.

Now including the list, I also have Type-S IM w/MSD switch, Outlaw IM and TB spacer, Mugen cooling mods, RT high flow cat with custom cat back. I should have a lot more than 207whp.

I'm sending off my TB to King Motorsport for P$P soon. Then soonb after I'll dive into the 3.5 build.

I already have Type-S pistons and a couple other goodies. My engine will be converted to a Type-S 3.5L... I'm not going to give out a date but expect a monster under the hood of my type-pee when it's ready.

I want to boost (S/C) my car as well, but I don't think it'll be cost effective, so we'll see about that.
But I am going to throw Juice in there when the engine is broken into afer the build.

about 25% drivetrain loss through the auto,

A few car geeks showed me how to do the math. lol

Besides, those are all of the bolt ons I can do without diving into the motor, going FI, and/or juiced.

Nice kill, Green! I believe ya, man. You've done a lot to your CL-Pee. You might have to start calling it a CL-Bee, "B" standing for Bad Azz! F*ck G35's. They're a dime a dozen in Arizona.
