Cl Battery
Right now I have the stock battery in my 03 CLS 6MT, its 550 crank amps. My friend has a yellowtop that he is willing to sell me. Its 750 cranking amps. Will that be ok to use in my car? I wasn't sure if it was ok to use a battery with that much more crank amps.
Any advice is appreaicated
Thanks!

optima yellow tops are solid, reliable batteries. I'll be upgrading to one when its time for a new battery... if you arent really due for a battery, its just a waste of money...

If your battery was in the car for more than three years, be prepared to buy a new one. When it dies there's no warning, don't be like me running late for work and the car won't start.

thats no good.
I'm running a red top with zero problems. And yeah Acura batteries don't last more then 3 years. Even less in hot weather. My new Acura battery I got when I bought my car(used) lasted 8 months in the FL heat. In went the red top.
Think twice before you buy a yellow top. They are designed for use as an extra battery to power a high end stereo system. As your sole car battery, I promise you they will not last as long as a Duralast or something similar. IMO, buy a Duralast gold for $80 from autozone (free replacement warranty for 3 years, partial reimbursement for 5 more after that), a capacitor if you run a stereo between 1000-2500 rms, and an additional battery if you are running something bigger than that.
1 farad should be enough for a system like that. I was running 2500-watts with a 1.5 and had no issues in 2 different cars (both had 160amp alternators though).
On the topic of the yellow tops, they are great for running the car and stereo but don't leave the stereo (even factory) on without the car running as they run down much faster then standard batteries. They also have issues in very cold weather at times.

Ok I have searched and searched and looked at the Optima web site. I don't run a huge stereo and at most will one day run like 600 watts. Red, yellow, or blue top? I know blue is marine but I saw ThinJim running one. I can't decipher what benefits each will give me over the others. recommendations?
I think it is better for all general car purposes. It has more CCA's, & you still get the benefits of a sealed battery. I have 1 on the Explorer as well, & just put one in my moms 95 Altima.
