Chromed shift gate *pics*

Hey guys, just thought I could show you my chromed shift gate. I removed it and some shop in Montreal chromed it (not chrome spray paint !). They say it's the same process used in the automotive industry.

By the way, the car is in winter mode, which means very dirty inside and out...

This stuff seems to scratch pretty easily though ...

I really like that shift plate. Looks real sharp. Time for new wheels though.

How do you go from a chromed shift gate to needing new wheels?

i like it. the interior needs a little more chrome than just the door handles and lock switches.

I think I'd have to see it in person before I could decide if I liked it or not.

The treatment only is like 40$, but I had to pay for shipping since I don't live in Montreal anymore. Not that expensive imo.

Anyone know where I can get the Chrome Shift Gate/Plate??

I did a search in the black market and on some other sites, but I seem to only find the shift knobs and other shift gates (not chrome).

The place is called Destrochrome, but I don't remember the guy's name. He replied very quickly to my emails and seems to be a very nice guy. If you want to send your plate there, make sure it is very clean otherwise some tiny bubbles might surface. Looking at their gallery, I think I should have tried the smoked chrome, would have probably been very nice... (they can do pretty much any color you want)

They've got some very nice bikes.....

Did you not understand this thread? The only way to get a chrome 5-speed shift plate is to have it dipped.

The 99TL came with a chrome shift plate that was covered in a gray paint. I was able to strip it to get to the chrome underneath. Unfortunately Acura doesn't make the chrome plates any more + it's a 4-speed tranny so it doesn't fit on your CL.

Oh really? I see, I thought they are sold separately dipped all ready. Acura should have came back with the chrome plates, because I love anything that sparkles like chrome.

Looks a little too bling for me. I like the brushed aluminum myself.

Well it has a brushed aluminum look to it anyway. Of course, we all know it's no more authentic than the "wood" trim.

what i would like to do, if possible. would have brushed alluminum gated 6 speed shifter plate, like your exotic cars. How does the 6speed shift gate look, you could also have one fabricated? i think that would look clean as hell

kinda like that... http://www.naerc.com/html/ind_parts/...TOKEN=62566001

Is it the same process for removing our shift gate as discussed in the TL thread?
