"Polished" aluminum? That would give a similar effect to chrome now?

Or do you want "brushed" aluminum?

I am holding out for a TRUE brushed metal unit made from actual METAL.
Sorry to say, but I think chrome plated plastic will scratch even easier then ours does now.

Maybe I’m wrong, but I don’t want to be the guinea pig.

Welp.

Get it chromed... then brush the fuck out of it with a Brilo pad.

Gives a similar effect to brushed aluminum.. it actually does look good... believe it or not.

Take a steak knife or something at home like some chrome hardware on a cabinet or sink or something... scratch the shit out of it. see if you like it.

Oh yea...

Soopa will not be responsible for dumb asses

Really though... if you want a true brushed look... just get it cromed... get a metal brush... and brush it your damn self.

Then just spray some clear coat on it.

Well afterspeaking to the guy at Chrometech USA I don't think that he can assure me that it will come out perfect so I decided to go to another company called www.chromeservices.com I spoke to a guy named Chis who can assure me that it will come out perfect since he does chrome plastic centers for O.E. rims. The cost is $100.00 + shipping but he tells me that the way he chromes it, it will look OEM and have a durable finish. I think if we can get a few of us together maybe we can get a discount?
Thanks

Nope, it is not listed seperately, just shown as part of the gate assembly. I checked on this about a month agao in hope of having a spare if the chrome wasn't right or screwed up.

I didn't even bother asking as it was pretty much the entire shift mechanism. My guess would of been over $100 possibly close to $200.

How hard do you think it would be to take it out, make some measurements, bend and cut aluminum or other metal to match? A dremmel or other tool could be used to smooth the edges and then laquer it to keep it's shine. Opinions?

Extremely difficult to do well. There are too many curves to it in a timely manner by hand. A CNC machine could handle it if appropriate measurements are taken, but now that will cost $$$...
