That is some fucked up shit. He should have gotten the initial approval in writing. He should go and get an auto loan for a U.S. Bank and buy of the car, and then just pay the bank off.

Ha Ha Ha. I thought I was the Slimey one.
Seems to be another reason why a vehicle lease is a crappy business arrangement. He's under some false pretense that he 'owned' the car in the first place. He leased it. It was Honda Canada Finance's car that he was 'borrowing' for a monthly fee. He violated his end of the contract; they took the car back.
The guy should have read the contract he signed. Now, if he wants to pursue it, he probably needs an attorney to get the bank's car back.

I'm still not quite sure why he called them... I know violates the lease agreement... But as long as you keep up with the payments and return the vehicle in Canada at the end of the lease; who is going to know if you drove it in the states for a couple of months?
I'm sure driving to FL from Canada probably killed his mileage allowance anyway.

I agree w/the sentiments heer regarding that he broke his leasing contract and should've just either kept the car in canada or create a bank acct in canada solely 4 the purpose of paying off the car
Anyways, he got a call back from Honda, and they apologized and promised to return the car to him later today. I think thats a nice gesture on Honda's part

Agreed. Good gesture and good business on their part to keep the customer in mind. The guy had his heart in the right place, just not his brain.
I wonder if Honda Finance realized that the extra mileage he put on the car would be worth extra $$ (or the Canadian equivilent) at the end of the lease term. Maybe that became the financial incentive they had to let him finish out the contract.
This should be a lesson to those that sign contracts. Read them. You can be held accountable for what you sign. He got lucky, you often need an attorney to 'renegotiate' a contract after the fact.
Hopefully his car wasn't abused in the repo process.
