I'm sure somebody could try it. My guess is it won't crank it over. Aren't the Optima batterys supposed to be lighter?

The biggie is going to be when it is hot . . . that's when I had most of my problems getting a car to fire . . . of course I was running 11.25 to 1 compression . . :P

I'd bet you could find smaller batteries that are in the 350-400CCA range and still weight a lot less.

NO

your battery is also engineered to act as a capacitor. You would allow all of your electronics be wide open to a voltage spike. I.E. cooling fan turning on and off would produce a spike.... pressing the brake pedal...

Enough of a spike and you coulf fry your ECU.

You could replace the battery with a large capacitor once the car is running. Which would be lighter...

Although mot newer electronics are pretty good handling voltage spikes I wouldn't play with fire...
