Changing front springs only?
Hey all.
I just got a set of the H&R OE springs for my 03 CL-P.
They only thing I dont like about my car is that it sits much higher in the front (just shy of 1 inch) that the rear. The rear dosent sit that bad. So I was wondering, what if I was to just change the front springs on on CL with the OE Sport springs. I saw something about this done on a TL. And it gave his car a nice even look without hapering his car all that much.
Do you think it would effect the car if any to leave the stock springs in the rear with the OE's up front?

You'll upset the balance of the car. By adding slightly stiffer springs to the front of the car without adding stiffer springs to the rear will cause the handling to exhibit more understeer than it already does. If you drive conservatively this wont be much of a problem but if you push it on on-offramps, you'll hate it.

I am a pretty conservative driver. I think. Not really intothe hard cornering.
But good point about the understeer. Never though about that... hummmm...
Wil it ride bad on normal straight roads?

I would even go so far to say that you will upset the balance of the car regardless of how hard you drive (or don't drive). Springs are meant to be matched, so you should install all 4 at one time. Using different springs will yield different spring rates, therefore, upset the handling of the car. Nevermind off ramps... how about a regular evasion (sp?) manuver? I would advise against it all the way.....
Either do it right or don't do it at all.

an adult perspective
I've done exactly what you are talking about to offset the addit weight from my system. B4 going to the Comptech fronts there was a measurable 1 3/4 inches more height in the front than in the rear. Jens at PAA suggested this route, and it does even the car out a whole lot better than it was, although there is a noticeable rake to it and it can look like the rear is riding on air shocks. Sometime this spring/early summer I will swap out the rears and add some Koni's to complete the install since I have just hit 40K miles in my '03 Type-S, but I have not experienced any ill effects at all - regardless of the driving situation.
However .... according to the experts on this site, it's impossible for me to be getting over 500 miles per tankful of gas on a regular, repeatable basis. Take it for what its worth.

ok ok ok... i am going to do the whole car. Maybe I will take it off the lift for a few pics with the ass end all jacked up. Then I will do the rear and take some more pics. So I guess I am going to drop it like it is hot... (is that the right saying?)

I in fact run spring spacers in the rear of my 280z to stiffen them up and make it corner more neutral. I didnt want to overly stiffen the ride and lower an already low car and I like the result, even though it wouldnt be "recommended".
